‘Mortal Kombat 2’ Star Adeline Rudolph, ‘Partner Track’s’ Arden Cho to Lead K-Pop Thriller ‘Perfect Girl’ For Badlands

Following her headlining performance in “Mortal Kombat 2,” Adeline Rudolph will share the screen with Arden Cho (known for “Partner Track” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender”) in “Perfect Girl,” a chilling psychological thriller that unfolds within the high-pressure realm of K-pop.

In my perspective, I’m thrilled to share that a project close to my heart, titled “Perfect Girl” (formerly known as “Unnie”), is in the capable hands of genre filmmaker Hong Won-ki, who has demonstrated his expertise through works like “Goedam” and “Zombie Hunter”. What makes this even more exciting is the collaboration with musical geniuses Sunshine and Moonshine. These K-pop titans are renowned for their incredible contributions to the industry, including crafting chart-topping hits for BTS and many others. I can’t wait to see how their original soundtrack will bring this story to life!

The update will showcase our project to potential buyers within the next few weeks during the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin. Domestic distribution rights will be managed by CAA Media Finance.

The project originates from Badlands, a fresh independent genre label that is only a year old and is spearheaded by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee’s Thunder Road (the team behind “John Wick”) along with Scott Strauss, who previously worked as an executive at Sony.

The script written by Lynn Q. Yu titled “Scream-meets-Black Swan” made it onto the 2023 Black List and tells a story about a fresh K-Pop super group on the brink of debuting at an extravagant concert. The competition among the girls, who have spent years training for just four spots, is intense as the final selection nears. However, when a secretive and gifted newcomer joins the group at the last minute, events take an eerie turn – the contenders begin to mysteriously disappear or get attacked one by one.

As a movie critic, I can confidently say that Director Hong has crafted an intriguing psychological thriller in ‘Perfect Girl’ that goes beyond typical scares and authentically captures the essence of K-pop. To bring this vision to life, we needed actresses of Adeline and Arden’s talent, and after a thorough search, I am thrilled to announce that we’ve found our ideal leads for this captivating film.
