More characters featured in Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered include Karulau and Touka

Aquaplus has updated the official Japanese website for Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered (known in Japan as Shiro he no Michishirube – Guidepost to the White). The update includes detailed background information for several characters in the game, as announced in a recent press release.

Many of the characters in this game have appeared in previous Utawarerumono titles. Karulau and Touka were actually first seen in the earlier Utawarerumono trilogy, which takes place after this game’s story. Shunya’s companion, the talking plushie Haru, is back from Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten.

Haru and Touka will be voiced by their original actors, Kentaro Tone and Kaya Miyake. Sadly, Karulau’s original voice actress, Atsuko Tanaka, passed away in 2024. As a result, Kikuko Inoue will be providing Karulau’s voice for the ‘Past and Present Rediscovered’ release.

This update introduces a new character named Fuyu, voiced by Yuka Keicho in the Japanese version. Fuyu is a traveler who wanders between countries while reciting poetry. The developers hint that this poem might be known to characters like Oshtor. A screenshot reveals that Fuyu can identify Munechika by his voice when he comes to see her.

Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered launches in Japan on May 28th for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (via Steam). An English version for PC will be available worldwide on Steam at the same time. Because of time zone differences, players in North and South America will be able to start playing on May 27th, a full day before the Japanese release.
