Some madman has taken on the entirety of the Monster Hunter: World campaign using only emotes.
Amazingly, it’s already been seven years since Monster Hunter: World hit the shelves, yet the game continues to boast a committed fanbase. In 2024, the number of players playing simultaneously reached its three-year maximum due to Capcom’s “Return to World” initiative.
During that period, it successfully attracted both old and new enthusiasts; even transforming renowned streamer Asmongold into a devoted franchise follower. With the highly anticipated sequel Monster Hunter: Wilds approaching, one might assume players have exhausted all possibilities from the 2018 blockbuster.
It turns out that your assumption was incorrect, as UncleAaronT, a Monster Hunter: World player, has recently accomplished an extraordinary feat. This player completed the entire base campaign without using any weapons for damage and instead relied solely on emotes – a challenge run we’ve never witnessed before.
Monster Hunter world Emotes only is possible. I’ve played the entire game using emotes as my only form of damage with my hunter. from great jagras to xenojiva. this dumb challenge run has been completed as of 06/01/2025. i believe i am the first person to of done this at this point of time.

Monster Hunter World player beats game using Ryu’s Hadouken emote
Back in February 2019, UncleAaronT initiated this challenge by demonstrating a successful attack on Great Jagras using solely the Hadouken emote. This emote was incorporated into the game as part of a Street Fighter 5 collaboration and is one of the rare techniques in the game that can inflict damage without requiring a weapon.
Indeed, it’s worth noting that this attack inflicts a consistent 13 points of damage – quite significant when you consider the notoriously large health reserves in Monster Hunter games. To make matters even more challenging, the campaigns in Monster Hunter: World come with a time limit of 50 minutes. This means that managing to take down a monster within such a short window is truly remarkable.
In addition to employing a Shoryuken emote from Street Fighter 5 collaboration and an emote featuring Dante’s guns from a Devil May Cry crossover, UncleAaronT concluded that the Hadoken ultimately proved most effective. He noted that while it delivered a consistent damage value, it also provided him ample time to decipher the dodging pattern when necessary.
Participants in the contest granted special consideration to Zorah Magdaros due to its distinct hunt characteristics, however, Aaron relied solely on emoticons to conquer every Large Monster in the campaign, ranging from Great Jagras to Xenojiva.
To demonstrate his success, Aaron posted his full adventure divided into separate videos on YouTube, allowing you to follow along step by step and witness how he conquered each creature within the given timeframe.
It’s important to mention that Aaron employed items and a Palico during his unique Monster Hunter World challenge run, yet despite these considerations, the achievement remains incredibly impressive.
Aaron utilized some items and a Palico in this exclusive Monster Hunter World challenge run, but even accounting for those factors, it’s still an astonishing feat.
