Capcom and Square Enix announced a collaboration between Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy 14 at Gamescom last month. Capcom has now confirmed that the first part of this crossover event will begin on Monday, September 29th, with the release of their Free Title Update 3. A new trailer was also released, giving players a preview of how the two game worlds will come together.
The powerful mechanical boss Omega Planetes from Final Fantasy XIV is coming to Monster Hunter, and players will need to work together to defeat it. To help with this challenge, two new job classes inspired by FF14 are being added in the Wilds update: Dark Knight and Pictomancer. Dark Knights can equip special armor to protect themselves and withstand strong attacks, while Pictomancers use illusions to cast powerful spells on their foes.
As a huge Final Fantasy XIV fan, I’m so excited about this update! They’re adding a bunch of cool cosmetics inspired by the game, like a Chocobo secret skin and some new gestures. But the best part? The trailer showed that December’s update will bring back Gogmazios! I haven’t been able to fight that elder dragon since Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate way back in 2015, so I can’t wait!
Capcom just released a new update for Monster Hunter Wilds, but it won’t fix performance problems on PCs. While the latest update, Free Title Update 3, offers new content, Capcom has said the PC optimization issues will be tackled in a separate update planned for this winter. They haven’t announced a specific release date for that fix yet.
