In approximately one month from now, Capcom will introduce Monster Hunter Rampage to gamers, marking nearly eight years since the release of the last major title, Monster Hunter: World, in 2018. An open beta test was held for players in October, and Capcom has now announced that a second open beta will take place in February. This news was accompanied by a video featuring Monster Hunter Rampage’s producer Ryozo Tsujimoto using the character creation tool to insert himself into the game.

Regarding its content, the upcoming beta is expected to bear a strong resemblance to last year’s version. Just like before, players can expect to use the character creator, test the storyline trial, and finish the Slay Doshaguma quest. Notably, this iteration of the demo will introduce Gypceros, a monster from prior games that was missing in the initial demo.

As Tsujimoto explains, characters generated during the initial beta phase can be retained for both the subsequent beta and the game’s final release. However, it’s important to note that game progress won’t be transferable across these stages. The second open beta is scheduled over two weekends, spanning Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. This beta will support cross-platform play, meaning it’s accessible to all players regardless of whether they have Game Pass, PlayStation Plus, or neither.

Participants in the upcoming beta test stand to receive special in-game perks such as a weapon charm and an item bundle. The initial beta session runs from February 6 at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET and concludes on February 9, repeating the same timeframe. A subsequent weekend preview is scheduled for February 13-16, likely adhering to the same hours as the previous event.

Tsujimoto pointed out that the team made adjustments following feedback from the initial beta test, which drew nearly half a million players simultaneously on Steam. Regrettably, these modifications won’t be included in the upcoming beta version. Instead, it appears Capcom will hold off on implementing those enhancements until the game’s official launch on February 28.
