As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I’ve seen the evolution of graphics and performance from the days of pixelated sprites to the jaw-dropping visuals we have today. Capcom’s latest reveal about Monster Hunter Wilds on next-gen consoles has got me excited!

Capcom has disclosed the specifications for Monster Hunter Rampage on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Additionally, the game’s director has affirmed that a launch-day update will be released to accommodate PlayStation 5 Pro compatibility.

In a recent community update video prior to its launch, Capcom revealed details about the expected performance of Monster Hunter Rise on consoles. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will have the same output resolution, but they’ll use different rendering resolutions. When focusing on graphics, the output resolution will be 3840×2160 pixels, with a rendering resolution of 3072×1728 pixels. If performance is prioritized over graphics, the output resolution remains at 3840×2160 but the rendering resolution drops to 1920×1080 pixels. The graphics mode aims for a smooth 30 frames per second, while the frame rate mode strives for a swift 60 frames per second.

On the Series S console, you’ll find a single mode tailored for a 1920×1080 resolution at 30 frames per second. Regarding the PS5 Pro update, Capcom has yet to provide further details but plans to do so as we approach its release. Meanwhile, the development team is working on reducing the minimum graphics card requirements for PC users and might even create a tool for benchmarking PC setups to help players check if their systems can run the game smoothly.

Previously in September, players observed that the system requirements for the game were strikingly alike to those for Dragon’s Dogma 2 (part 2). When it was initially released, Capcom admitted that the PC version of Dragon’s Dogma 2 experienced performance issues. So far, there’s no hint suggesting that Monster Hunter Rise (Wilds) will face similar troubles.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches on February 28, 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
