Missing woman rescued by police while competing in YouTube survival show

In the midst of a YouTube competition featuring outdoor survival, a 36-year-old woman found herself missing for 18 hours within Michigan’s Pigeon River Forest. She was later successfully rescued.

On the evening of September 5, as reported by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office, a woman from California departed from the assigned base camp in Charlton Township in search for water. Unfortunately, she did not return and the event organizers initiated a search but were unable to locate her. It wasn’t until around 5 a.m. the following morning that authorities were informed about her disappearance, as she had been reported missing.

Thanks to assistance from law enforcement officers, emergency responders, and other relevant agencies, a 36-year-old individual was successfully extracted in a safe manner from the woods.

Michigan State Police dispatched their canine teams into a forest that was still recovering from a recent ice storm, as they continued their search efforts. At approximately 10:40 in the morning, an MSP helicopter discovered the missing woman immersed in a marshy region – a location where she had braved the cold and rain throughout the previous night.

Multiple organizations lent a hand in the search, such as the Department of Natural Resources, various fire departments, and the Michigan State Police Air Support team. Upon being located from above, ground personnel and firefighters were directed to her whereabouts.

The woman successfully exited on her own accord, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office. She was checked over by emergency medical services at the scene and found to have no severe injuries. A video released by Michigan State Police shows her waving goodbye to the helicopter as rescuers moved in to secure her safety.

In 2025, this isn’t an unusual event for a YouTuber, as another incident occurred back in June when Spanian was airlifted from the Everest View Hotel after experiencing illness almost immediately.
