Fans have long hoped to see Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone share the screen, and now it’s finally happening – but the project is a bit of a surprise. We often anticipate seeing great actors go head-to-head in films, like Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in Heat, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant in Bridget Jones’s Diary, or even Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone in The Expendables. But the film bringing Lawrence and Stone together? A movie about Miss Piggy!
Jennifer Lawrence recently shared on the Las Culturistas podcast that she and Emma Stone are producing a new movie starring Miss Piggy. The script is being written by Cole Escola, known for Oh, Mary!. Lawrence hinted that both she and Stone are likely to appear in the film as well, saying, “We have to!”
Jennifer Lawrence & Emma Stone Are a Team-Up Years in the Making

Sony Pictures Releasing
As a film lover, I really think Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence define acting for our generation. They both became huge stars in the 2010s, balancing big blockbuster franchises with really impressive, awards-worthy performances. Jennifer won an Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook, and Emma took home her first for La La Land and then another for Poor Things. Beyond the critical acclaim, they were both central to some truly iconic franchises of the decade. Jennifer was fantastic as Mystique in the X-Men prequels and completely owned the role of Katniss in The Hunger Games, while Emma made a memorable Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man films.
Their impressive film credits include popular movies like American Hustle, Birdman, Winter’s Bone, The Favourite, Joy, and Easy A. Both actresses are also nominated for Oscars this year—Stone for her role in Bugonia and Lawrence for Die My Love. This collaboration feels long overdue, and the role of Miss Piggy seems ideal for them.
Miss Piggy first appeared in 1974 on Herb Alpert and the TJB before becoming a star on The Muppet Show. She quickly became one of the most memorable Muppets, known for her demanding personality and quick temper – she’s not afraid to confront others! While she often flirts with guest stars on the show, her true love is Kermit the Frog. Miss Piggy is a true icon; TV Guide ranked her among the 50 greatest TV stars of all time in 1996. In 1979, some devoted fans even tried to get her an Oscar nomination for her performance in The Muppet Movie.
Disney is bringing The Muppets back into the spotlight with several new projects. Most recently, a solo film starring Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone focused on Miss Piggy was announced. This follows news of a special celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show, set to stream on Disney+ in 2026 and featuring Sabrina Carpenter. This special could even lead to a revival of the series. After years of Muppet fans feeling overlooked by Disney, it’s clear Hollywood’s biggest stars are now eager to work with these beloved characters, creating projects that are generating a lot of buzz.
