Minecraft nights can be really intense, with waves of monsters attacking you. But the next big update, coming around the holidays in 2025, will add a new weapon, a new rideable creature, and different enemy setups to make combat more interesting.
The spear is the latest weapon added to the game. According to Mojang, it’s effective whether you’re fighting on foot or on horseback, and deals more damage the faster you move – so feel free to rush into combat!

The new nautilus mount will be a fantastic addition to your underwater adventures! You can tame it with pufferfish, and it not only speeds up travel but also lets you breathe underwater for longer, reducing your reliance on enchanted helmets. Keep an eye out for nautilus armor too – you can find it in chests crafted from copper, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite.

You’ll encounter some new enemies with your new gear and ride. Watch out for zombie nautiluses – they’re generally peaceful, but drowned zombies riding them will attack you with tridents. On land, you’ll find zombie horses, which are also peaceful on their own, but zombies riding them will have spears and won’t hesitate to fight.
Mojang hasn’t given a definite release date for Mounts of Mayhem, but they expect it to be available this holiday season.
Minecraft Live revealed several exciting updates, including the Copper Age update arriving next week, a new educational tool called Friendly Fishing, and a future collaboration with Dragon Ball Z.
