Doritos has previously offered video game promotions, but for A Minecraft Movie, PepsiCo’s well-known chip brand is taking things a step further. Not only are they launching two new flavors inspired by Minecraft’s Creepers and Ghasts, but they’re also debuting square Doritos that fit perfectly with the game’s visual style.
According to The Grocer, a new Doritos line is set to feature flavors inspired by Minecraft characters: Creeper-inspired chips will have a vinegar taste, while Ghast chips will offer a BBQ flavor. After the promotional period for A Minecraft Movie ends, these unique flavors – Zingy Vinegar Blast and BBQ Sweet Tang – will become permanent additions to Doritos’ selection. At this point, it is unknown whether or not these flavors will be made available internationally, as they have only been announced in the UK media.
☝️As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got some exciting news! I’ll be on the lookout for the upcoming limited-run Minecraft movie in the UK. 🎥🔥🏚️

Between February 17th and April 13th, Doritos will conduct a hunt for squared Doritos in the UK. Fans can participate by scanning QR codes on the packaging or finding actual square-shaped Doritos themselves. The winners stand to receive Minecraft-themed goods, cinema tickets for A Minecraft Film, and cold hard cash as prizes.
Director Jared Hess has disclosed why the movie is titled “A Minecraft Film” rather than “The Minecraft Film.” The film stars Jack Black as Steve, alongside Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen portraying a group of everyday individuals transported into the pixelated world of Minecraft. The release date for “A Minecraft Film” is set for April 4 in cinemas.
