Mindy Kaling Calls Meghan Markle Backlash ‘Unnecessary’ and a ‘Waste of Time’ After Appearing in Her Netflix Series ‘With Love, Meghan’

On the Golden Globes red carpet, Mindy Kaling addressed the criticism that had been directed at Meghan Markle prior to the launch of her Netflix series “With Love, Meghan,” which was set for release on January 15th.

Ever since joining the royal family in 2018, Markle hasn’t been unfamiliar with internet bullying, particularly racist comments due to her biracial background. Following the release of “With Love, Meghan” last week, some critics have taken aim at the show for supposedly being out of touch with reality.

In response to Marc Malkin’s question regarding the opposition towards the show, EbMaster’s Senior Culture & Events Editor, Kaling, expressed, “I simply think that folks become angry over things… that seem uncalled for. Perhaps even a waste of energy.

Kaling appeared on a cooking show, recorded in Montecito, California approximately ten months past her two-month postpartum period. This isn’t a new instance of Kaling backing Markle; they previously worked together on the “Archetypes” podcast in 2022.

She’s not just talented, but also incredibly thoughtful and creative – a true delight to work with. Her home, adorned with various artistic touches, and her lush gardens made our time together even more enjoyable for someone like me.

Prior to the Oscar nominations to be revealed on January 17, with voting set to begin tomorrow, Kaling also hinted at the film “Anuja,” which she produced. This production has recently been shortlisted in the best live-action short category and revolves around a nine-year-old girl who must grapple with a tough choice after being presented with a unique chance to attend school.

Kaling described it as a captivating production featuring two exceptional actresses in tough situations. Despite its complexity, she finds it incredibly uplifting and adores it. This project aligns perfectly with the enthusiasm of Kaling International.
