As a movie buff who has witnessed the rise of many young talents, I can’t help but feel a tinge of nostalgia as Millie Bobby Brown bids adieu to “Stranger Things”. It feels like just yesterday when she was a bright-eyed 11-year-old joining the cast. The journey she and her fellow co-stars have taken, from being mere characters on our screens to global superstars, has been nothing short of extraordinary.

I, Millie Bobby Brown, fought back tears as I read a heartfelt farewell letter to my cherished cast and crew on “Stranger Things” following our last day of filming the blockbuster Netflix series. The streaming giant confirmed on December 20th that production for the fifth and final season had concluded. In commemoration, I shared a collection of memories from the past nine years of making this incredible show on my social media platforms. I was only eleven when we began filming in November 2015, and it’s been an unforgettable journey ever since.

Among the cherished snapshots I’ve saved from Brown’s nearly decade-long journey creating “Stranger Things”, there’s a heartfelt farewell video where she emotionally bid adieu to the team, her eyes brimming with tears as she expressed her affection. After sharing her love for everyone on set, she warmly embraced a crew member.

Aren’t graduations typically a time for relief? You know, feeling happy to move on from teachers and classmates. But it’s not like that for me,” she expressed, tears streaming down her face. “I’m just not ready to part ways yet. I adore every one of you and the memories and connections we’ve made together will stay with me forever. They feel like a family to me. I love you all, thank you.

Brown has been a constant presence on “Stranger Things” as Eleven since the first episode, and the show’s success catapulted her and her fellow young actors into international stardom. Last year, she mentioned to Women’s Wear Daily that she was prepared for the series to conclude with its upcoming fifth season.

Brown expressed that he feels prepared as “Stranger Things” comes to an end. He likened this experience to finishing high school or senior year – a time when one is eager to move on, grow, and thrive independently. Despite his gratitude for the journey thus far, he’s excited about writing his own story and living life on his terms.

David Harbour, Brown’s fellow actor, expressed sentiments similar to those of Discussing Film at approximately the same time, stating, “It’s ironic because when I began the show, I never wanted it to conclude. That’s what makes it special to me; I think it’s a fantastic series, regardless of my involvement. We’re nearing nine years since filming the first season now, and I believe it’s time for it to come to an end.

Harbour went on to say, “Indeed, it’s a mix of feelings. There’s certainly a sense of sadness involved. Yet, we’ve matured and it seems right that we move on to new experiences and ventures. It’s also their time to spread their wings and explore different projects. The Duffer Brothers are incredibly gifted, I can’t wait to see what they create next. So, while it’s bittersweet, it does feel like the right moment.

The final season of “Stranger Things” will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
