Mike Myers Revives ‘Coffee Talk’ Host Linda Richman With Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph at ‘SNL50’: ‘It’s Sweata Weatha’

On Sunday, during the 50th-anniversary special of “Saturday Night Live”, Mike Myers made a classic comeback by playing Linda Richman again. This character was initially made famous in the “Coffee Talk” skits from 1991 to 1994. In these sketches, Myers modeled Linda Richman after his real-life mother-in-law while he was married to Robin Ruzan, as portrayed in the “Shrek” actor’s performance.

Linda is a woman from New York City who speaks in a typical NY accent. In a 1991 episode of “SNL,” she made her debut through a segment called “Coffee Talk with Paul Baldwin.” Yet, it wasn’t long before Paul was removed from the sketch, and Linda took over as the show’s host instead.

In the special episode ‘SNL50’, Myers once again played the Linda Richman character, reviving a popular ‘SNL’ sketch titled “Bronx Beat with Betty and Jodi,” starring Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph. At first, they invited actor Miles Teller from the audience to discuss his career and his role in “Top Gun: Maverick.” They repeatedly referred to it as “Top Gun: 2.”

They started by inviting actor Miles Teller from the audience to chat about his role in “Top Gun: Maverick,” which they kept calling “Top Gun: 2.”

However, when Linda appeared, Betty and Jodi quickly shifted gears.

Linda suddenly appeared on set, asking, “Is anyone discussing coffee?” Both Jodi and Betty were overjoyed to see Linda. In a striking purple sweater, she cheerfully remarked, “I just grabbed a noodle kugel from Zabar’s, thought I’d pop by and say hello to the ladies, nothing special.

Betty and Jodi were keen to discuss Paul Baldwin with Linda. Sharing a heartfelt report about Paul, Linda explained, “To be honest, our cherished friend Paul Baldwin is currently hospitalized in a city clinic… They transported him here from Boca Roton using an iron lung. It’s truly distressing; I must admit, it’s bringing tears to my eyes.

After gathering her thoughts and confiding in Betty and Jodi about her own health issues, Linda announced she had some information to share. “I’ve got some news,” she said. “It’s not great – it’s raining. But on the bright side, it’s turning into a cozy weather day. My favorite kind of weather, a cozy weather day!
