While there’s no official release date yet, the newest Stephen King adaptation is anticipated to stream on Prime Video around 2026. The creator, known for successfully adapting King’s stories – including Gerald’s Game, Doctor Sleep, and Life of Chuck – has also become famous for modern horror hits like The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass. His dedicated fans have been eagerly awaiting this latest project since its announcement.

  • “Congratulations!! Oh man I cannot wait! 🔥❤️” – @zachmerck
  • “The best.” – @ambermidthunder
  • “Ready for my Mike Flanagan, Matthew Lillard and Kate Siegel obsessions to be worse. 🤓😍” – @tbrslasher
  • “I’m so excited for this!!! The moment I found out you were in charge of this project, I instantly knew you were casting Samantha as Mrs, White. I love Midnight Mass and she’s a big reason for that. She’s a beast and the perfect choice for such a particular character. I cannot wait!” – @lucia_elizabeth94

Mike Flanagan’s new series, Carrie, updates Stephen King’s classic novel for today’s audiences. The eight-episode show follows Carrie White as she navigates the challenges of public high school after her father’s death. She deals with intense bullying while also discovering she has telekinetic powers. Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie, with Sloyan playing her deeply religious mother and Matthew Lillard as the school principal.

Samantha Sloyan, who was fantastic as Bev Keane in Midnight Mass, is a perfect fit for the role of Margaret White. It’s a casting choice that immediately feels right.

I’m so excited for Mike Flanagan’s Carrie! If you want to watch it, and a ton of other great horror, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime Video. After that, it’s just $14.99 a month, but you can actually save money – about 22% – if you pay for the whole year upfront for $139. I’m definitely signing up!

As a huge fan of Mike Flanagan’s work, I’m really excited about his new Carrie series! He not only wrote and directed parts of it, but also produced it with his regular partner, Trevor Macy, and the whole team he usually works with. What’s even cooler is that Stephen King himself gave it his blessing. Plus, the cast – Kate Siegel, Amber Midthunder, Siena Agudong, and others – is fantastic. It feels like Flanagan is going to do what he does best: give us a new spin on a classic King story, staying true to the source material while also making it completely his own.

This won’t be a simple remake of either the original 1976 Carrie film or the 2013 version. Based on his previous projects, director Mike Flanagan seems likely to offer a new take on the story, exploring the familiar themes with a fresh and terrifying approach, while still creating something unique. Now that filming is complete, the show finally appearing on television feels much closer to becoming a reality.
