But things changed when Disney started bringing characters from the old Netflix shows – like Daredevil and Jessica Jones – into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, leading fans to wonder if the rest of the ‘Defenders’ team might return as well.

Colter has been dropping hints on social media and at events, leading to rumors about a possible return. Now, he’s gone further, openly admitting that conversations about it are underway. He confirmed this during an interview on Shawn Stockman’s podcast, On That Note.

Colter hinted at ongoing discussions, saying, “I’ve had conversations… and I’ll leave it at that.” He explained that after being away from the role for several years, he’s realized he feels a pull to return. “I love the fans and that world,” he said, “and now I think I have some unfinished business there, even though I’m working on other projects.”

Mike Colter shared that he and the creator of Luke Cage have been discussing bringing the character back. He believes Marvel is now more open to featuring established, legacy characters, pointing to the returns of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. He feels a revival could happen sooner rather than later, saying, ‘We’ll see.’

This represents a significant shift from how he previously responded. As Colter explained, he used to offer no encouragement, but now feels he is providing at least some hope.
