Windows 11 has been available for a couple of years now, and Microsoft is planning to make it even smarter with artificial intelligence. Starting today, they’re adding features that let users interact with Copilot using their voice and have AI handle simple tasks. This launch is supported by a new campaign introducing Windows 11 as a computer you can actually talk to.
Microsoft believes we’re entering a new era where AI will move beyond chatbots and become seamlessly integrated into the everyday digital experiences of millions of people. According to Microsoft’s consumer chief marketing officer, Yusuf Mehdi, their goal is to fundamentally redesign the operating system to be built around AI, creating what they call the ‘AI PC’.
The latest features are reminiscent of Cortana’s voice capabilities in Windows 10. Users will now be able to wake their computers from sleep simply by saying “Hey, Copilot!” Mehdi predicts that people will use voice commands much more frequently than they have before.
Microsoft is making sure Windows 11 users approve before AI can do things for them. They’re currently using a feature called Copilot Vision to understand what’s on your screen and offer assistance with things like documents, pictures, and apps. While an AI helper that can directly control your computer – called Copilot Actions – is still being tested, Copilot is now available in the Windows taskbar, making it easier to use voice commands.
So, I’ve been following this whole AI thing in gaming, and it’s getting wild. Big names like Hideo Kojima and Glen Schofield are saying we should actually *use* AI tools, which is interesting. Apparently, over half of Japanese game companies are already doing just that! But here’s the crazy part – OpenAI’s new Sora 2 seems to have used Nintendo characters and stuff without asking, which is a big no-no. The Japanese government actually stepped in and told OpenAI to stop because of the copyright issues. It’s a bit of a mixed bag – AI’s cool, but respecting ownership is super important, right?
