So, if you’re like me and dream of getting your game on Xbox, Microsoft just made things a whole lot simpler! They’ve released their official Xbox Game Publishing Guide for everyone – that’s all of us developers and publishers – who want to bring our creations to the Xbox world. It’s basically a roadmap to getting your game on the console, which is awesome!
I was really excited to see Microsoft put their Xbox Game Publishing Guide online! It’s cool that even us regular players can peek at it and get a better understanding of how games are made. It seems like they’re trying to get more indie developers – the ones who usually make PC games – to consider Xbox. But it’s not just for newcomers, apparently; experienced publishers are welcome to use it too. It’s a super comprehensive guide, covering everything from the very beginning stages of an idea to actually launching the game!
Microsoft has released this resource as part of a new effort to ensure all developers have the information needed to publish games on Xbox. The company plans to regularly update the guide with new features and information about game development, and encourages developers to join their Game Dev Discord for further support.
I was really intrigued when I heard Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, talking about the next Xbox! He suggested it might be a lot more like a PC, which is super interesting. Apparently, they’re thinking about letting PC game developers use the same tools and info they need to build games for Xbox, making it way easier to get games running on both platforms. That could mean we see a lot more PC games coming to Xbox, or vice versa, without a ton of extra work!
Microsoft is experimenting with a new Xbox Cloud Gaming subscription that includes advertisements, and they’re also working to integrate AI and voice commands into all Windows 11 computers.
