Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, has addressed concerns about the future of Xbox. Recent rumors indicated that internal changes might lead to the end of the Xbox brand, but Nadella has responded to those claims.
In late February, Phil Spencer, who had led Xbox for many years, announced his retirement. He wasn’t the only one leaving; Sarah Bond also resigned from her role as Xbox President.
When Spencer, the longtime public face of Xbox, left the company, many fans grew worried. Those concerns increased when Seamus Blackley, an original creator of Xbox, hinted that Microsoft was winding down the brand, comparing it to providing end-of-life care.
According to former Xbox executive Bill Blackley, Microsoft is gradually phasing out the Xbox, despite not publicly announcing it. He believes the new CEO, Asha Shar, will be tasked with managing this decline, essentially winding down the Xbox business over time.
Microsoft CEO says they’re “long on gaming”
Despite concerns, Nadella has stated that gaming is now a central part of Microsoft’s future plans.
Satya Nadella emphasized the importance of the company’s fundamental strengths, telling employees that certain core aspects of Microsoft must continue to flourish for the company to remain successful. He described Microsoft as a platform and a developer-focused organization, according to WindowsCentral.
Microsoft has always been, and will continue to be, a company focused on knowledge work and gaming. We are particularly enthusiastic about gaming and plan to keep investing heavily in it for the long term.

As per WindowsCentral’s report, Xbox’s new CEO, Asha Shar, said that “Xbox starts with console.”
Following the announcement of Xbox’s new ‘Project Helix’ console by Shar, the company stated it will offer top-of-the-line performance and be compatible with both Xbox and PC games.
Before he left, Bond mentioned the new console will offer a top-quality, carefully selected experience for players.
