Michael B Jordan’s Childhood Dream Marvel Role Just Became Even More Possible

Michael B. Jordan has always wanted to play a specific Marvel character, but hasn’t had the chance yet, even after appearing in a popular Marvel movie series. While he previously starred in the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot – a film that wasn’t well-received – his odds of landing his dream role now seem better.

The actor then landed the role of the main villain in the 2018 film Black Panther, which received several Academy Award nominations, including for Best Picture. He was highly praised for his portrayal of the complicated character Erik Killmonger. However, neither Killmonger nor his earlier role as Johnny Storm is the Marvel hero he’s always hoped to play, and he may finally get the opportunity.

Michael B. Jordan’s Childhood Dream Marvel Role Is More Possible After His Oscar Win

Michael B. Jordan shared in Marvel’s Black Panther: The Official Movie Special Book that Black Panther was the Marvel hero he always hoped to play as a child. Although he ultimately joined the Black Panther franchise, he starred as Killmonger instead of T’Challa.

Chadwick Boseman, who sadly passed away nearly six years ago, originally played the hero. Since then, there’s been increasing talk about Marvel Studios finding a new actor to take on the role. At the same time, Michael B. Jordan’s chances of landing the part have improved significantly. Jordan recently won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in ‘Sinners,’ a film directed by Ryan Coogler, who also directed the ‘Black Panther’ movies.

Replacing Black Panther was going to be a difficult task, but Michael B. Jordan feels like the most sensible choice. He’s been a fan of the character since childhood, is already popular with Marvel fans as part of the Black Panther universe, was a close friend of Chadwick Boseman, and has now received the industry’s highest honor – an Oscar.

Similar to Michael B. Jordan, Robert Downey Jr. won an Oscar before joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now he’s set to play Doctor Doom – his second MCU role. This creates a clear pattern: an actor wins an Academy Award and then joins Marvel. Because Downey Jr., who was so well-known as Iron Man, is returning as a different character, it opens the door for Jordan to do the same. Marvel has already established this path and could benefit from continuing it.

How Michael B. Jordan Could Play Black Panther In The MCU

Marvel could easily bring Michael B. Jordan back as Black Panther within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the upcoming multiverse-focused Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars films, they could introduce his version of T’Challa from another reality. They don’t even need to make him the primary Black Panther in the MCU – a cameo appearance in one or both of those Avengers movies would be enough.

This plan would have included T’Challa in the largest Marvel event yet and given Michael B. Jordan the chance to play a role he’s always wanted. After Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel could then introduce Toussaint, the son of the previous Black Panther and Nakia, as the new Black Panther in the MCU.
