The Miami Dolphins are winning games thanks to a strong defense, while their offense is consistently reliable enough to secure victories. The first quarter was slow-paced, with both teams managing only a field goal each.
Miami’s offense started to click when quarterback Carson Beck threw an 85-yard touchdown pass to Ray Joseph. However, the opposing team quickly answered with a field goal just before halftime, bringing the score difference to four points.
Miami increased their lead early in the third quarter with an 11-yard touchdown run by Mark Fletcher Jr. The scoring play was set up by a key interception and return by Miami’s Ethan O’Connor, who took the ball from Trinidad Chambliss and brought it to the 10-yard line.
Ole Miss quickly responded in the third quarter when Chambliss connected with Kewan Lacey for a 75-yard touchdown. They failed the subsequent two-point conversion, a miss that would prove costly. Both teams then exchanged field goals before the start of the fourth quarter.
Bert Auburn kicked a field goal, extending the Hurricanes’ lead to 23-15 with just 4:15 remaining in the game. However, Chambliss responded with a huge play, connecting with De’Zhaun Stribling for a 75-yard touchdown. This meant they needed to score two extra points to tie the game, but unfortunately, their attempt failed.
Ole Miss regained possession with 1:55 left in the game, but their drive quickly stalled, and they turned the ball over on downs. With just one timeout remaining, they were forced to watch as Miami moved on to the next round.
With the win, Miami will either face Indiana or Oregon in the National Championship.
