Both MGM+’s From and its Stephen King adaptation will be back with new seasons in 2026, which is great news for the streaming service and fans of horror.
Even with several promising horror shows on the horizon, MGM+’s From continues to be a standout series in the genre. The show builds suspense by slowly revealing its secrets, avoiding quick answers. Despite this deliberate pacing, From has consistently captivated audiences since its debut, maintaining a high level of quality throughout.
I’m so excited! It’s been over a year since the end of From season 3, and now they’ve announced season 4 will be here in 2026! And that’s not all – a new Stephen King TV show is coming out the same year, and it feels a lot like From in terms of the kind of story it tells. It’s going to be a great year for horror fans like me!
From Season 4 & The Institute Season 2 Are Officially Premiering On MGM+ In 2026
Filming for season 4 of From finished near the end of 2024, meaning we can likely expect the new season to arrive in Spring 2026. As one of MGM+’s most popular shows, its return is important for the streaming service. However, From isn’t the only horror show coming back to MGM+ this year.
As a huge fan of Stephen King adaptations, I was really pleased to hear that MGM+’s version of The Institute is now slated to return in 2026. While it hasn’t quite reached the same level of praise as From, I’ve noticed a lot of similarities in how both shows build suspense and keep you guessing – that mystery box element is definitely present in both!
Jack Bender, known for directing Lost, is the main director and executive producer of both shows, giving them a comparable look and feel. A key element of this similarity is how both series highlight the isolation of their central characters. In both stories, these characters are stuck in unsettling and dangerous places, controlled by mysterious and powerful forces.
Both From and The Institute feature characters trapped in mysterious locations – a town with supernatural forces in From, and a secluded facility where dangerous experiments are conducted in The Institute. Eventually, the characters from both stories team up to try and break free before it’s too late. Though both are thrilling, From leans into the unsettling atmosphere of folk horror, while The Institute focuses more on psychological suspense and science fiction.
Both series are strongly influenced by the writing of Stephen King and feel similar to mystery-driven shows like Lost. With new seasons scheduled for 2026, it looks like that year will be fantastic for horror enthusiasts.
From & The Institute’s Same-Year Return Will Quietly Solidify MGM+’s Horror Identity
MGM+ is still growing as a streaming service, but it’s making a name for itself, particularly in the horror genre. By consistently releasing new seasons of its popular shows without long delays, MGM+ is proving itself to be a reliable option for viewers.
After three successful seasons, From has earned consistently high praise, suggesting its next installment will likely be just as good. However, The Institute received mixed reviews with its first season, even though it was renewed for a second season.
If the Stephen King series improves its storytelling in season 2 and receives better reviews, it could help MGM+ become a popular choice for horror TV. We’re hoping the fourth season of From and the second season of The Institute live up to expectations.
