Nintendo has revealed the download sizes for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond on both the Switch and the new Switch 2. The game will require 31.6GB of storage space on Switch 2, but only 26.3GB on the original Switch, according to the Nintendo Store. However, the eShop on Switch 2 lists the Switch version of the game as being slightly larger, at 28.9GB.
It’s expected that Metroid Prime 4 will require more storage space on the new Switch, as the game offers enhanced graphics with 4K resolution when played on a TV, and a smooth 120 frames per second in performance mode. It also supports HDR for richer colors and can be played with mouse controls using the Joy-Con controllers. Both versions of the game will be available this Thursday, December 4th.
Fans have waited nearly twenty years for a new Metroid Prime game since the release of Metroid Prime 3 in 2007. Metroid Prime 4 was first announced in 2017 shortly after the Nintendo Switch came out. While Bandai Namco originally started development, the project was restarted by Retro Studios in early 2019. Retro Studios is the team responsible for the beloved original Metroid Prime trilogy.
I just watched the new Metroid Prime 4 trailer Nintendo dropped last month, and it looks incredible! Seriously, space combat, Samus doing all sorts of cool flips, and even a move that reminded me of the anime Akira? Sign me up!
