Following nearly three and a half years, it appears that MercurySteam is prepared to disclose additional details about its dark-fantasy action-RPG under the tentative title Project Iron. Intriguingly, the developer recently posted a brief video on social platforms, hinting that further information will be unveiled at IGN Fan Fest, an event taking place from February 24th to the 28th.
In reference to X, Project Iron’s account posted a 15-second video showcasing a hammer perched on a stone surface that seems like a table. There’s a warm, bottom-left emanation, with sparks drifting around, hinting at something mysterious. One of the hashtags suggests an upcoming aspect, potentially alluding to a tagline for the game: Craft Your Destiny.

505 Games unveiled their collaboration with MercurySteam on a project named Project Iron back in 2021. Details about this game are scarce, but it appears to be an action role-playing game viewed from a third-person perspective set within a dark fantasy universe. Later in 2023, Enric Alvarez, one of the co-founders of MercurySteam, revealed to Gamereactor that Project Iron is designed as a single-player adventure utilizing the Mercury Engine.
MercurySteam primarily gained recognition for collaborating with Nintendo to produce Metroid: Samus Returns and Metroid Dread, but they also have a history of working on the Castlevania series under Konami. Between 2010 and 2014, this developer created three titles in the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series, which included Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.
505 Games has been recognized for publishing games such as Terraria, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, and Control. Interestingly, around a year ago, Remedy took ownership of the Control franchise rights from 505 Games.
