During the State of Play on February 12, Konami announced that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on August 28, and hinted at a reappearance of the Snake vs. Monkey mode with Ape Escape exclusively on PS5. It’s worth noting that Xbox players can expect a different crossover event instead.
It seems Xbox gamers will have the opportunity to watch Snake take on Bomberman, as Konami and Microsoft have officially announced the release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater on Xbox. Following the hint of the Ape Escape partnership in the State of Play, the Xbox trailer features the classic “alert” sound from Metal Gear with an exclamation mark. The square representing the punctuation then transforms into a cartoonish bomb that explodes to reveal a camouflaged Bomberman character and the text “Snake vs. Unknown” superimposed on it.
At present, Konami hasn’t disclosed further details about this unique game mode, but it’s evident that it involves cooperation with one of Konami’s major franchises. Interestingly, Bomberman was developed before Metal Gear, as Hudson Soft introduced it in 1983. After purchasing Hudson Soft in 2011, Konami has taken over the Bomberman series and produced games like Super Bomberman R and its successor.
Snake Eater’s initial PS2 release.
On August 28, the game “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater” will debut for play on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Preorders are now being accepted, with the $80 Digital Deluxe Edition offering early access to the game, starting 48 hours prior to launch.
