Mercenaries Lament: Requiem of the Silver Wolf launches for Steam on January 23

Excitedly, I share the news that my favorite game developers, Flyhigh Works and Rideon Japan, have revealed the release date for “Mercenaries Lament: Requiem of the Silver Wolf“. This thrilling adventure will be available to play on Steam starting January 23! Can’t wait to join the action!

In April 2023, the seventh installment of the “Mercenaries” SRPG series debuted on Nintendo Switch in the west. Later in October 2023, PlayStation versions became accessible. Consequently, all entries within this series are now playable via Steam.

Game Overview
Mercenaries Lament is a tactical simulation RPG set in a fantasy world.
Battles take place on maps divided into four sections, with variations in height that can influence the outcome. The placement of your characters – be it in front, behind, or beside enemy units – can significantly impact each fight. Support effects are tied to the positioning of your party members, enabling strategic maneuvers for a more immersive experience. Players have significant flexibility in character growth, including gaining and enhancing skills, as well as changing classes using battle-earned skill points.
The characters are beautifully drawn with rich facial expressions by the illustrator Sakura Mochi!
Advent Soul
With Amalie, our protagonist, in your group, you’ll see a gauge build up on the upper right corner of your screen. Once full, this gauge allows you to save one Battle Point (BP). You can accumulate up to 9 BP points. Utilizing these points, characters can enter a condition known as “Advent Soul,” which temporarily strengthens the character.
As a gamer, I can unleash “Advent Attacks” in tandem with my comrades, turning the tide of battle. When the situation calls for something extraordinary, I can also deploy my “Soul Exceed” abilities – powerful, unique skills that pack a real punch!
Advent attacks
When a character is in “Advent mode” and flanks an enemy with another ally, they can launch a synchronized assault either through a standard attack or by using their specialized Advent skill, which has the potential to deal significant damage.
Soul Exceed skills
Characters in Advent mode can activate Soul Exceed abilities on demand. Each character has a distinct version of this skill, with outcomes ranging from dealing massive damage to foes to healing HP and removing abnormalities for all allies. However, using Soul Exceed will end the Advent mode for that character.
Utilizing Soul Exceed skills are the key to victory!
Orbs with hidden power
In this game, you’ll come across enigmatic items known as Orbs. These Orbs can be acquired by progressing through the story, discovering specific locations, or defeating particular enemies. In total, there are 13 Orbs hidden within the game. You can track your collection on a separate screen and even outfit your character with them as accessories.

Story
For quite some time now, it’s been a chilling reality that a strange, incurable illness swept across our continent, transforming its victims into the grotesque figures we know as zombies upon their demise. These once-living beings would mindlessly assault the surviving population without mercy or reason. It’s become commonplace for us, the hired guns, to spend endless days combating this relentless horde of the undead.
Johann, captain of the Silver Wolf Mercenary Company, is a man who values money above all else. He receives an unexpected visit from the Grim Reaper, narrowly avoiding its deadly scythe. However, the Reaper warns him with a chilling prophecy: “In the next 100 days, your luck will come to an end. That day will mark your destiny.
Following a dreamlike sleep, he encounters a young woman who holds extraordinary abilities to cure illnesses – a seemingly miraculous occurrence, which may have only been a vivid nightmare, masking an encounter with Death itself.
No matter what, Johann volunteers to safeguard the miracle worker during her trips, aiming to help as many people as possible. Together, they embark on a voyage across the kingdom, healing the sick along the way.
Soon, however, Johann must confront his mortality…
