Menace early access development roadmap published

Overhype Studios has revealed its plans for the future of Menace. Following the game’s Early Access release last month, the studio detailed upcoming updates that will add more story content, improve squad leader features, and introduce new planets to explore.

I’ve been following Menace for a while now! It was first shown off in 2023, and after a few trailers – including one at PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted 2024 – it finally hit Early Access last month in February on Steam, GOG, and the Microsoft Store. I’m so excited to finally play it!

You’ll find the game’s roadmap and official announcement just below. Besides English, Menace will offer subtitles in French, German, Spanish, Polish, Ukrainian, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Turkish, Japanese, Korean, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese. We plan for the Early Access period to last at least a year, but this could change based on what players think.

It’s been a month since we launched MENACE into Early Access. The period right after launch was incredibly busy, even more so than the weeks before! Now that things are settling down, we want to start sharing regular development updates again so you can see what we’re working on.

First, we want to outline our plans for Early Access. We expect to be in Early Access for about a year, assuming everything goes smoothly. Please remember that this roadmap represents our current vision, and features, content, systems, and timelines are subject to change as we continue development.

To get the game ready for its 1.0 release, we need to add several features (see the image).

Let’s keep a few key things in mind as we move forward.

First, we’ve intentionally avoided creating a fixed schedule for adding new features. We want to be flexible and decide what makes the most sense to build next based on ongoing evaluation. Strict plans can limit our creativity and we prefer a more adaptable approach.

Second, this feature list isn’t final. We’ll continually refine and improve various parts of the game, even those not specifically mentioned here.

While we’ve put a lot of thought into this list, game development is unpredictable, so things are always subject to change.

Finally, your feedback is incredibly important. It helps us stay on the right track, balance the game effectively, and prioritize features based on what you think.
