Boris the Animal is a serious threat – his species is built for aggression and seems determined to take over the world. But Edgar the Bug feels truly sinister. As his body breaks down, he becomes increasingly enraged and unpredictable, making him even more frightening. What’s really disturbing is that we only see the results of his attacks, forcing us to imagine the gruesome acts he committed against his opponents.

It’s difficult to pinpoint one single reason why Edgar the Bug remains such a memorable villain, but the visual of him shedding his skin definitely contributed a lot. The way it showed the passage of time felt very realistic, and it’s a key part of why he’s still considered one of the best.
