Meet The Cast & Characters Of MGM+’s Robin Hood Series

MGM+’s new take on the classic story of Robin Hood boasts a talented cast, blending rising stars with established actors. Created by Jonathan English, this adaptation of the English folklore legend adds fresh perspectives and introduces both familiar characters with new depth and a completely original character to the tale.

Sean Bean joined the cast of Robin Hood earlier this year, but he’s just one of many talented actors in the film. The cast also includes someone known for Gladiator, a former professional football player, and a group of promising new faces. Their combined efforts have earned Robin Hood a respectable 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making them all actors to watch.

Jack Patten is an actor from Sydney, Australia, who trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts. He gained recognition for his role in Robin Hood, which was only his second acting job. Following the classic story, Robin assembles a group of outlaws – the Merry Men – to fight against the unfair rule of the Sheriff of Nottingham by stealing from the wealthy and helping those in need. This version, produced by MGM+, reimagines Robin as the son of a forester who teams up with his love interest, Marian.

I’m really enjoying Lauren McQueen as Marian in Robin Hood! She plays a character who’s been a big part of the Robin Hood stories for ages, and she’s usually the woman Robin falls for – and sometimes the Sheriff tries to win over too. But in this version on MGM+, Marian is super clever. While Robin is out fighting, she’s working behind the scenes, going undercover in the Norman courts and amongst the wealthy to help him. She’s much more of a secret agent, which is a really cool take on the character!

Connie Nielsen as Eleanor of Aquitane

Date of Birth: July 3, 1965

  • Active Since: 1984

As a film fan, I’ve always been impressed with Connie Nielsen. She’s a Danish actress, born in Elling, and really started to gain recognition with roles in films like The Devil’s Advocate back in ’97, but I think most people really remember her from Gladiator in 2000. Since then, she’s been consistently working in major American movies – I’m excited to see her in Gladiator II! She’s also been in films like Nobody and Wonder Woman, and even popped up on TV in shows like The Good Wife. She’s definitely a versatile performer.

Let’s talk about Connie Nielsen’s portrayal of Eleanor of Aquitaine in Robin Hood. It’s fascinating because Eleanor wasn’t just a character invented for the story; she was a real queen – actually, queen of both France and England, and a powerful duchess in her own right. She’s been popping up in Robin Hood tales for ages, often as a key confidante and friend to Marian, which adds a nice historical layer to the film.

Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham

Date of Birth: Unknown

  • Active Since: 2017

Lydia Peckham is a New Zealand-born actor who recently gained recognition for her role as Soona in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Before that, she primarily appeared in smaller roles on TV shows like Mr. Corman and in several short films. She’s also slated to be in the upcoming movie The Wrecking Crew.

In the series Robin Hood, Lydia Peckham portrays Priscilla of Nottingham. As the Sheriff of Nottingham’s daughter, Priscilla serves as the main rival to Marian. While she isn’t a character found in most traditional Robin Hood stories, the MGM+ show added her to create a more complex and exciting storyline for Marian.
