Medieval open-world RPG inspired by Stardew Valley takes a step towards realism. NPCs in Mirthwood will feel the consequences of our actions

Bad Ridge Games recently launched a big update for Mirthwood, their popular 2024 game that blends role-playing and life simulation. The update makes the game, which many compare to Stardew Valley, feel even more engaging.

I’m so excited about the new Foundations update! It feels like everything we’ve been building towards, and it’s completely changing the way life feels in the Free Lands. The biggest thing for me is that NPCs can actually die now, depending on the choices I make. If I mess up a quest or just ignore someone, they won’t stick around forever – someone new will move into town instead. It makes everything feel so much more real and impactful!

We’ve added four new pets to the game that you can buy for your farm! These pets will occasionally collect resources and help keep your farm safe from bandits, rats, and other pests. The update also introduces random bandit attacks and pest infestations to the game.

The latest update introduces three new festivals to Mirthwood, offering opportunities to collect unique decorations. Plus, the game now features over 35 random events that can significantly alter your adventure, especially as you follow the main storyline.

As a huge fan of Mirthwood, it’s so heartwarming to see the creators express their gratitude for all the support we’ve given them this year! They just released a new update, and they’re really hoping it’ll make our adventures in the game even better. I’m already excited to jump back in and see what’s changed, and I can’t wait to share my experiences with everyone!

Steam is having a sale right now! Until December 2nd, the game is 30% off and costs $17.49.
