In a forthcoming Disney+ series, a figure from “Spider-Man: Far From Home” is set to interact with Ultron, a character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The last time viewers encountered James Spader’s malevolent AI in the main MCU storyline was as he clashed with the Avengers over world domination. Despite the Avengers foiling his schemes, Ultron will resurface in the franchise again in 2026’s “Vision Quest,” where he will be a major antagonist.
Although the Marvel Studios series featuring Paul Bettany is set to air soon, not much has been revealed about its plot. What we do know is that Bettany’s character, the synthezoid, will be joined by other AI constructs such as Ultron, EDITH, and the enigmatic Jacosta in this new show. A recent interview with one of the actors portraying the various AIs from “Vision Quest” has given us a small glimpse into the upcoming series.
At The Artists for Peace and Justice annual gala, Emily Hampshire, famously known for her role in “Vision Quest,” shared that her Marvel Cinematic Universe character would be appearing alongside James Spader’s Ultron on screen.
Hampshire mentioned that James Spader is among the finest actors she has collaborated with, indicating that she likely will appear alongside the returning Marvel Cinematic Universe star in her role as EDITH.
It was truly remarkable to collaborate with Paul Bettany and James Spader, two exceptional talents who left me in a state of wonder. Among the many impressive people I’ve had the privilege to work with, they stand out as the cream of the crop. Paul, in particular, is simply extraordinary. Our bond feels like it’s been forged since before we were born – I can picture myself kicking him and making him laugh in the womb! And James Spader is a masterful actor whose talent I have greatly admired.
The actor previously known from Schitt’s Creek shared insights about joining a Marvel Cinematic Universe series for the first time. She mentioned the mysterious aspect of the high-powered film franchise and admitted that upon getting hired, she needed to research what “MCU” stood for.
At the onset of my current position, I was sworn to secrecy for an entire year, making it quite challenging. Upon hearing my lawyer utter “Now, you’re in the MCU,” I had to search for its meaning. However, now I feel completely engrossed. I’ve binge-watched all the movies, but prior to this role, I knew little about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). What astounded me was the level of secrecy surrounding it. For instance, we were required to submit our scripts at the end of each day… Thus, it’s a highly guarded secret. There are many secrets I’ve learned that I can’t divulge.
In a previous cinematic adventure, I encountered EDITH – the voice within Tom Holland’s Iron Man eyewear, a gift left behind by the one and only Tony Stark posthumously in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Up until that point, it was Dawn Michelle King who breathed life into this disembodied AI.
Based on recent news, it appears that Hampshire is set to portray a character in a human form within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This development represents yet another instance where an artificial intelligence entity assumes a human-like persona, following characters like Vision and Ultron.
The “Vision Quest” series is slated to debut on Disney+ in 2026, continuing the tale of Vision from where it ended in “WandaVision.” In this new chapter, the super-powered synthezoid finds himself inhabiting a completely white body and battling against several dangerous rogue AIs. Paul Bettany takes the lead in this streaming epic, with additional appearances by Hampshire, Spader, Todd Stashwick, and T’Nia Miller.
How Will EDITH Factor Into Vision Quest?
With the highly anticipated arrival of the “Vision Quest” series, there’s much to look forward to, but it’s safe to say that many eager fans are particularly thrilled about EDITH transforming into a human character. This development is likely to be a high point for those excitedly waiting for the new streaming production.
The presence of Emily Hampshire’s AI character, who might appear alongside Ultron on screen, raises several intriguing possibilities. Is it likely that she will join forces with Vision against Ultron in a battle? Or could it be that she becomes an artificial ally to James Spader’s villainous Ultron instead?
It’s been whispered that the movie “Vision Quest” might plan to draw from the popular “Iron Man 2020” comic series. In this tale, Tony Stark is compelled to gather a squad of armored heroes to confront a dangerous rogue AI extremist group.
In this situation, it appears that Vision might act on behalf of Tony Stark, as EDITH could potentially join forces with him to defeat Ultron and the malevolent Jacosta. This alliance may result in a legendary team-up between artificial intelligences.
