MCU’s Midnight Sons Team Reportedly Includes 8 Supernatural Heroes

Even though Marvel Studios hasn’t announced a Midnight Sons movie, fans are already imagining which supernatural heroes would be part of the team if it were made. The Midnight Sons are a group of Marvel Comics characters, similar to the Avengers, who typically deal with the most frightening and monstrous threats in the Marvel universe.

Rumors about a Midnight Sons movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been circulating for years. According to reports, Marvel is planning something big with this team as they explore more supernatural stories after Avengers: Secret Wars.

Entertainment insider My Time To Shine Hello recently shared details about the upcoming Midnight Sons team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The source revealed a potential lineup of eight heroes, featuring both familiar faces already seen in MCU movies and exciting new characters that fans will be eager to see.

The 8 Heroes Rumored to Join the MCU’s Midnight Sons

Dane Whitman

I remember when the buzz about a potential Midnight Sons movie in the MCU first started – it actually goes way back to the introduction of Dane Whitman in Eternals. Kit Harington, who you probably know from Game of Thrones, played him, and even back in 2021, in that film, they hinted at his character becoming the Black Knight, his comic book persona. It felt like they were laying the groundwork for something bigger then, and the Midnight Sons rumors really took off from there.

At the end of the movie, Dane was approached by the mysterious Blade, who offered him the Ebony Blade – a magical sword created by Merlin for someone with a good heart.

Blade

Mahershala Ali was announced as the new Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2019, but fans still haven’t seen him take on the role. The movie starring his version of the vampire hunter has faced delays, making it one of the most anticipated and questioned projects in the MCU.

Mahershala Ali’s planned Blade movie has been delayed, and he’s now expected to first appear as a live-action character in the potential Midnight Sons project instead.

Elsa Bloodstone

Elsa Bloodstone, in Marvel comics, is the tough and skilled daughter of the famous monster hunter, Ulysses Bloodstone. Though she was raised to be a monster killer, she doesn’t enjoy senseless violence the way her father does.

Viewers first met the character in the 2022 streaming special, Werewolf by Night, where Laura Donnelly skillfully portrayed the beloved comic book hero.

Ghost Rider

Fans have wanted Ghost Rider, a fiery, motorcycle-riding superhero, to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a long time. It looks like that wish might come true with the upcoming Midnight Sons project. Ghost Rider gained his powers by making a deal with a demon, allowing him to control hellfire and giving him a distinctive flaming skull.

Nicolas Cage and Gabriel Luna have both played the character before, but most people expect Marvel Studios to cast a different actor for their version of the popular hero who fights with a chain.

Man-Thing

Sources say Man-Thing, a large and imposing creature, is also joining the upcoming Midnight Sons project. He first appeared in the 2022 Werewolf by Night special as a mysterious, frightening monster that many hunters were after.

After becoming friends with the main character of that project, Jack Russell, Man-Thing managed to escape to safety with his fellow creature like himself.

Moon Knight

I’ve been really hoping to see more of Moon Knight since his Disney+ show in 2022! The character, Marc Spector, is so fascinating – he’s got multiple personalities, which makes him incredibly complex. Basically, he connects with an ancient Egyptian god and transforms into Moon Knight, fighting all sorts of powerful, mythological baddies. I’m eager to see what adventures he gets into next!

The Moon Knight series ended with hints of what could happen next for the character, even suggesting a new personality for Marc Spector. However, he hasn’t appeared in any live-action projects since then.

Werewolf by Night

Given that characters like Elsa Bloodstone and Man-Thing are already confirmed, it’s a natural fit for Jack Russell, also known as Werewolf by Night, to join the Midnight Sons team. Actor Gael García Bernal portrays Jack Russell, a man with the frightening ability to transform into a werewolf under the full moon.

Jack understands the difficult lives of Marvel’s monsters, and dedicates himself to protecting them. He acts as a guardian, especially for the most frightening creatures in the comics.

Wong

The Midnight Sons team usually includes a magic user connected to Doctor Strange. While it’s often Doctor Strange himself who appears, that’s not the case this time.

The newest report indicates Benedict Wong will be joining the team as his character, Wong. Now that Wong is the MCU’s Sorcerer Supreme, it seems logical he’ll be the one to bring the Midnight Sons together.
