McDonald’s responds after CEO’s Big Arch taste test goes viral

McDonald’s has responded to the attention generated after CEO Chris Kempczinski’s taste test of their new Big Arch burger went viral.

Just days before the nationwide launch of the Big Arch in the United States on March 3, 2026, McDonald’s had already begun selling the larger burger in places like the UK and Ireland. This was part of a larger effort to add more options to their main menu.

A short video clip of McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski trying a new sandwich went viral online. In the clip, he calls the sandwich a “product” after only taking a tiny bite, gaining a lot of attention before its official release.

It was pretty wild – even Burger King’s president, Tom Curtis, noticed! He actually posted a video of himself trying the updated Whopper, and he took a huge bite to show it off.

McDonald’s posts message on launch day

McDonald’s announced the arrival of the Big Arch in the US on March 3rd with a close-up photo of the burger posted on X.

“Take a bite of our new product,” the company wrote.

The photo featured the Big Arch burger, which included two quarter-pound beef patties, three slices of white cheddar, crispy raw onions, shredded lettuce, pickles, and its special sauce, all served on a sesame and poppy seed bun.

My post got a lot of replies, and one person even brought up that comment the CEO made – you know, the one where he said he had no idea how to deal with the situation. It was a bit of a throwback!

“Start with two hands,” McDonald’s jokingly replied.

McDonald’s continues to launch new menu items globally. Recently, Canadian customers can enjoy a hockey-themed meal, and in February, the UK saw a special collaboration with the popular TV show, Friends.
