Mayor Of Kingstown Season 4 Episode 8 Recap: Callahan Wreaks Havoc In Kingstown & Beyond

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Mayor of Kingstown season 4, episode 8.

As a big fan of Mayor of Kingstown, I have to say season 4, especially episode 8, really cranked up the pressure. Seeing Merle Callahan work to hurt the McLusky family was intense. This season’s introduced a lot of new faces in Kingstown, which has been interesting, but honestly, the most dangerous problems still seem to be coming from people Mike McLusky already has a complicated past with.

Despite this, other criminal groups – like the skilled mafia led by Frank Moses, and the powerful Cartel – are still creating problems the Mayor is having trouble controlling. On top of that, the Kingstown Police Department is dealing with a surge in major incidents all over the city.

Episode 8 of Mayor of Kingstown season 4 was arguably the most action-packed and dramatic of the season, building towards a season finale where Mike McLusky will have to go all-out to save Kingstown from disaster.

Mike McLusky Finally Has The Warden On His Side

Throughout the fourth season, Mike and the warden of Anchor Bay, Nina Hobbs, clashed repeatedly. Mike tried to use his influence to gain advantages for his unofficial role as a community leader, but Nina firmly resisted his requests.

Now that the Cartel threatened her daughter, Nina seems less willing to assist her undercover handlers. She’s increasingly focused on working with Mike, hoping it will finally allow her to escape their influence.

When Callahan escapes from prison, Nina immediately calls Mike, alerting him before anyone else. While Callahan only poses a danger to Mike and his family, not the Cartel, this shows Nina is now cooperating and working with him.

The Mayor Orchestrates A Clear Plan To Get Back At Frank Moses

Now that Mike and Bunny know Frank Moses was using Lamar to try and harm Bunny, they’re preparing to retaliate.

Bunny remains hospitalized, and Frank must be careful during his visits to maintain his disguise. Meanwhile, Mike is working on a dangerous scheme, pressuring Lamar to eliminate one of Frank’s key associates.

Lamar follows Mike’s instructions because he knows Frank and Bunny don’t trust him, and he’s counting on Mike to shield him from any consequences. It appears Mike is deliberately pitting these people against each other to safeguard Kingstown and a friend he’s known for a long time.

Callahan’s Prison Break Causes Chaos Across Kingstown & Beyond

Callahan unexpectedly visits Shaver, who has been using his home as a base for the Aryan Brotherhood’s drug dealing since Callahan arrived in prison. After learning Shaver had been speaking badly about him and his activities, Callahan retaliates by intentionally setting Shaver on fire, resulting in his death.

Beyond all of that, Callahan’s actions escalate further when his team burglarizes Mike’s office and sets fire to Mike’s house. However, those events are overshadowed by the shocking way Callahan concludes the episode.

Stevie Gets Payback For The Brutal Murder Of Former Warden Kareem

Jeremy Parsons / Paramount+

As Callahan creates trouble, Mike and some KPD officers head to Anchor Bay to question the Aryan Brotherhood and find out what they know.

The warden gathered the inmates in the courtyard, and Mike, Ian, Stevie, and other KPD officers arrived to question them about Callahan’s plans and whereabouts. But when Stevie saw the meeting location, he remembered the brutal murder of the previous warden, Kareem, at the hands of these same prisoners.

After questioning draws a blank, Mike lets Stevie attack a Brotherhood member who keeps provoking him. Stevie severely beats the man, leaving him near death, but they only gain vague hints about the danger facing Mike’s family.

Merle Callahan Murders Tracy McLusky

Unfortunately, Mike and the police department couldn’t gather information as quickly as Callahan. He took advantage of the recent turmoil in Kingstown and his illegal activities to discover where Kyle McLusky’s wife, Tracy, and their baby were hiding.

Callahan makes Tracy place a call to Anchor Bay, and a phone is brought to Kyle’s cell so he can answer. Kyle quickly realizes something is wrong with Tracy’s voice. It’s revealed that Callahan is actually with Tracy, holding her son hostage and threatening to kill them both.

Callahan upset Kyle badly, then ended the call. This left Tracy desperate to plead for her son’s safety, but Callahan was unmoved, leading her to fear for both their lives.

In season 4, episode 8 of Mayor of Kingstown, Callahan hesitates outside the house for a moment before a baby’s cry rings out as he walks away. While Tracy is confirmed to be dead, Callahan spared the life of her baby boy.
