A brand-new trailer has excited fans, offering a first look at a previously unexplored part of Eternia.
The newest trailer for the Masters of the Universe movie—a collaboration between Mattel and Amazon MGM Studios—is finally here, and it delivers exactly what fans have been hoping for before its June release. While a short teaser was previously released, this new trailer provides a much more detailed look at the world of Eternia, introduces several supporting characters, and gives a better view of Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam.
He-Man and Skeletor Clash in Masters of the Universe Official Trailer
The initial teaser introduced the world and hinted at the story, featuring Adam on Earth. However, the official trailer primarily takes place on Eternia, fully realizing the universe. It opens with Adam imprisoned in a dungeon on Eternia, where he rebels against the evil Skeletor – presented in a delightfully over-the-top and nostalgic style.
The new movie Masters of the Universe, a collaboration between Mattel Studios, Amazon MGM Studios, and Escape Artists, is the latest adaptation based on the popular toy line. Directed by Travis Knight and written by Adam and Aaron Nee, Chris Butler, and David Callaham, the film promises a fresh, updated version of the iconic story.
The film follows Prince Adam of Eternia, who was secretly raised on Earth to keep him safe. The cast includes Idris Elba as Duncan (Man-At-Arms), Camila Mendes as Teela, Jared Leto as Skeletor, and Alison Brie as Professor Evelyn Powers, who is also known as Evil-Lyn.
The new installment of the popular franchise also features appearances by beloved actors like Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, James Purefoy as King Randor, and Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena Glenn. Joining them are Sam C. Wilson, Jon Xue Zhang, James Wilkinson, Sasheer Zamata, Kojo Attah, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and Kristen Wiig, who provides the voice for Roboto.
What Can Fans Expect from Amazon MGM Studios’ Masters of the Universe?
At a private CinemaCon event in 2025, viewers got a first look at the new Masters of the Universe film. Details and images shared online showed costumes and sets that were incredibly faithful to the original cartoon. The initial reaction was very positive, reassuring fans who worried the movie might be overly silly or campy.
Director Travis Knight recently discussed the animated series that inspired the film, saying the movie actively “acknowledges and embraces” it. He believes this is a strength, adding that the source material is integrated into the script to make the story more understandable for today’s viewers.
To celebrate the new Masters of the Universe movie, Dark Horse Comics is releasing a comic book called He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Wings of Fate. Written by Tim Sheridan, with artwork by Will Sliney and colors by Israel Silva, the comic follows He-Man on a dangerous quest through the Mystic Mountains, where he’ll search for help from the legendary people of Avion.
Masters of the Universe is currently slated to arrive in theaters on June 5.
