Hi-Rez Studios, like other gaming industry companies, has recently undergone significant job reductions. While we don’t have an exact figure, sources close to the team suggest that around 50-60 developers were let go. This move is likely to significantly impact the company’s operations and may lead to a halt in support for various projects.
- Hi-Rez Studios is giving up further development of the games Smite, Paladins, and Rogue Company.
- All three games will remain active, at least for now, but the company has no plans for any new content for them.
- The studio is now focusing on Smite 2, although the team responsible for this project has also been affected by layoffs.
At Hi-Rez Studios, there’s been another round of job reductions, following some smaller-scale layoffs that occurred back in October of the previous year.
Back in the latter half of last year, I got my hands on an early version of Smite 2. This action-packed game can be played on PC, next-gen consoles like the Xbox Series S and X, as well as the PlayStation 5. The makers have opted for a free-to-play model with some optional in-game purchases.
