Archetype Entertainment first revealed their space action RPG, Exodus, at The Game Awards in 2023. They returned to the event today with a new trailer and announced that the game is scheduled to launch in early 2027.
Okay, so the really cool thing about Exodus is this idea called time dilation. Basically, it means time doesn’t pass the same way for everyone – it depends on how fast you’re moving or how much mass something has. It’s the central concept of the whole game! We’re going to be traveling between stars, and time will flow differently for us than for the people back home. The developers are building this into the story so that the decisions we make will really matter, even decades later. It’s going to be amazing to see how our choices echo through the years!
The game will be a traditional action RPG, similar to Mass Effect. You’ll explore futuristic environments from a third-person view, complete missions, have lots of conversations, and battle enemies. The main antagonists are the Celestials – humans who have evolved over 25,000 years and are now vastly different from what we consider human.
The creators of Exodus are seasoned professionals from BioWare, and Matthew McConaughey stars in the game. Whether it will resonate with fans of the genre remains to be seen.
