Be warned, this article reveals major plot points from Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 4. The Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again has introduced what many are calling the MCU’s newest primary villain. Though the show is largely focused on street-level crime in New York City and remains relatively contained within the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, it has already delivered some of the most compelling villains we’ve seen so far, including classic characters like Kingpin and Bullseye.
As a big MCU fan, I’ve noticed something interesting about the villains we’ve seen so far in this Multiverse Saga. A lot of them have come and gone pretty quickly, or, like Valentina, they seem powerful but don’t really pose a huge threat to the main heroes. But honestly, the Daredevil: Born Again season really changed things. It’s made Kingpin – or, more specifically, Benjamin Poindexter – the clear standout villain of this whole phase. He’s just on another level!
Bullseye Deserves The Crown For The Multiverse Saga’s Best Villain
Wilson Bethel first appeared as Benjamin Poindexter in the Netflix series Daredevil. He quickly proved to be a formidable opponent for Matt Murdock, demonstrating exceptional skill and a fighting style that mirrored Daredevil’s. Poindexter not only convincingly impersonated the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante but also nearly defeated Murdock in a fight.
The character’s return in season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again deepened his connection to Murdock’s story. He was revealed to be the one who shot and killed Foggy, Matt’s close friend, acting on the orders of Mayor Fisk’s wife, Vanessa. This act nearly caused Matt to abandon his principles and try to kill Bullseye, but Bullseye survived being thrown off a building, proving his incredible resilience.
Bullseye is back in season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, and he’s quickly become a standout character. His unpredictable actions, radical sense of justice, and intense desire for revenge are captivating audiences. So far, he’s proven to be one of the most compelling and developed villains in the current Multiverse Saga.
The Multiverse Saga Villains Have Been Lacking
As a huge Marvel fan, I was really invested in the idea of Jonathan Majors’ Kang being the major villain for this whole Multiverse Saga. But it seems those plans changed, and now Doctor Doom is taking center stage. Honestly, Kang’s defeat in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania felt really underwhelming, especially after all the build-up. And while Doom is now the big bad, we haven’t even gotten a proper glimpse of him – just a shadowy figure under a green cloak at the end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. I’m still hoping for a truly impactful reveal!
Beyond the major villains we saw, there were a few promising ones who didn’t quite live up to their potential. Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher is a good example. Despite strong casting and the possibility of a truly formidable threat, the story ultimately defeated him with help from children and the power of love.
Many of the most compelling villains in recent stories aren’t simply evil – they’re actually heroes with complicated backgrounds and motivations. Characters like Wanda Maximoff, Robert Reynolds, and Agnes Harkness blur the line between good and bad, making it difficult to label them as true villains because they don’t fully embrace a dark path.
Doctor Doom Still Has A Chance To Take The Top Spot As Marvel’s Best Villain
Right now, Benjamin Poindexter seems to be the standout villain of the Multiverse Saga, but Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom could easily become number one. Doctor Doom is a legendary villain in Marvel comics and the broader comic book universe.
Past attempts to bring Victor von Doom to life in live-action films haven’t quite succeeded, but Robert Downey Jr. has the potential to deliver the most interesting and complex portrayal of the villain we’ve ever seen. Currently, Bullseye is considered the strongest villain in the Multiverse Saga, but Doctor Doom’s introduction could easily shake things up. For now, I’m really looking forward to seeing more of Bullseye in season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again.
