2026 looks like a busy year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with several new films and TV series planned. After a strong 2025 that saw movies like Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps receive positive reviews, the MCU seems to be back on track.
Marvel’s future movies aim to keep the momentum going, and they have some promising projects in the works. While only two films are currently scheduled for 2026, it looks like a strong year for Marvel Studios. Fans are hoping these movies will be both critically acclaimed and commercially successful, potentially becoming two of the highest-rated films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Beyond the TV shows expected in 2026, Marvel had a fantastic 2025 with both live-action and animated series. Now, let’s take a look at what Marvel Studios has planned for 2026, including both movies and TV shows.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Marvel’s next film, scheduled for release in 2026, will be Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This movie continues the story of Peter Parker after the events of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, showing what happens now that the world has forgotten who he is.
Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is helming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will be released in theaters on July 31, 2026. While details about the story are currently secret, the film is anticipated to be a grounded, more personal Spider-Man adventure as Peter Parker moves forward into a new chapter of his life.
Tom Holland is coming back as Spider-Man in the new movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and several other familiar faces will be joining him. Jon Bernthal (The Punisher), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), and Michael Mando (Scorpion) are all returning from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will also be back as MJ and Ned, but it’s not yet clear how big their roles will be.
The cast is expanding with Sadie Sink, known from Stranger Things, and Liza Colon-Zayas from The Bear. Spider-Man: Brand New Day aims to follow the success of the Homecoming films, starting a fresh chapter for Spider-Man within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and possibly setting up a new trilogy of movies.
Avengers: Doomsday
Marvel has only two movies planned for 2026, but they’re both expected to be huge. Along with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. The story for Avengers: Doomsday has been hinted at in recent Marvel films, and it will feature Robert Downey Jr. returning as the villain Doctor Doom.
The movie originally planned as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is now titled Avengers: Doomsday. This change happened because Jonathan Majors, who was set to play Kang the Conqueror, was let go by Marvel following assault allegations. In July 2024, Marvel Studios officially announced Avengers: Doomsday, revealing Robert Downey Jr. as the new villain for the Multiverse Saga and the Russo Brothers will be directing.
Now that the cast for Avengers: Doomsday is set, the movie will focus on the New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men joining forces to thwart Doctor Doom’s dangerous plot. While the specifics of Doom’s plan are still a mystery, a hint was dropped in the post-credit scene of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
The recent scene revealed Doctor Doom encountering Franklin Richards, the exceptionally powerful son of Reed and Sue Storm who can change reality itself. With the upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, set to connect with Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, Franklin is clearly going to play a key role in Doom’s schemes. Filming for Avengers: Doomsday is happening now and will continue until late October 2025, putting the movie on track for a 2026 release.
Every MCU Show Releasing In 2026
The Marvel Cinematic Universe will be releasing fewer TV shows in 2026 compared to previous years, but it won’t be completely absent from television. We can expect three Marvel shows to premiere in 2026: two live-action series and one animated series.
Wonder Man
Marvel Studios’ first TV show of 2026 is Wonder Man, which started filming on January 27th. The series centers around Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery as they audition for a superhero movie remake—also called Wonder Man. What the public doesn’t know is that Simon actually has real superpowers.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars in the show, alongside Ben Kingsley, Josh Gad, Olivia Thirlby, Arian Moayed, and others. Initial reactions to the series have been overwhelmingly positive, suggesting it could be another success for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really excited to hear that we’re getting more Daredevil! Apparently, season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is coming in 2026, and thankfully, the production is going much smoother this time around. They learned from the issues with the first season, and Dario Scardapane was in charge of the whole thing from start to finish. Plus, they’ve also got Vision Quest planned for 2026, which sounds awesome! I’m already counting down the days.
After Marvel Studios reviewed early footage from the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, they decided to shift the show’s creative direction. This new approach was first seen in the season one finale and will continue into season two. Daredevil: Born Again season two is currently scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in March 2026.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
While there’s no confirmed date yet, the second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is currently expected to arrive in 2026. The first season, which told the story of a different version of Peter Parker, premiered in January 2025 and received positive reviews.
In an interview with Collider, Brad Winderbaum, head of television at Marvel Studios, said new seasons of the show would arrive each year, with the second season expected just over a year after the first. Details about season 2 are currently limited.
X-Men ’97
While not directly connected to the main storyline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, X-Men ’97 is an important addition to the broader Marvel franchise. The show picks up where the beloved X-Men: The Animated Series from the 1990s left off, and its first season received a lot of positive attention. Fans are now looking forward to season 2, which is scheduled to debut in mid-2026.
Details about X-Men ’97 season 2 are still scarce, like with other shows that haven’t announced a release date yet. Rumor has it we’ll see new characters like Apocalypse, Sabretooth, and Lady Deathstrike. The good news is a third season is already confirmed, and hopefully it won’t take as long to arrive as season 2 is expected to.
VisionQuest
As a huge Marvel fan, I was really excited to hear that the last TV show they’ve currently planned is going to be VisionQuest. It’s a follow-up to WandaVision, picking up the story after that incredible finale, and will center around Vision. Details are still pretty scarce, but apparently, they’re bringing in some other AI characters we’ve seen throughout the MCU. Right now, they’re aiming for a late 2026 release, which feels like a long wait, but I’m already intrigued!
The upcoming show, VisionQuest, doesn’t have many details released yet, but we know James Spader will reprise his role as Ultron, James D’Arcy is returning as J.A.R.V.I.S., and Todd Stashwick will play Paladin, a bounty hunter pursuing Vision. If it’s similar in quality to WandaVision, Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans are in for something special.
