As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt and an unquenchable thirst for high-quality fighting games, I must say that Maximillian “Maximilian Dood” Christiansen’s Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite & Beyond has piqued my interest like none other in recent memory.
Ever since Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite hit the shelves back in 2017, it’s been a while for us gamers craving a new installment in the Marvel vs. Capcom series. But fear not, fellow combatants! An exciting fan-mod titled “Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite & Beyond” is about to breathe fresh life into our favorite brawler. Set to launch on December 20, this mod gives the game a sparkling new lick of paint, making it feel almost brand new. Just remember, this exhilarating update will only be available for PC users, so grab your gaming rigs and get ready to rumble!
The initial concept of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite & Beyond was initiated by a modder named WistfulHopes; however, it was later passed on to Maximillian “Maximilian Dood” Christiansen who gathered a group to develop fresh art, music, and a retro aesthetic reminiscent of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 rather than Infinite. The outcome clearly demonstrates the team’s effort.
When talking with Polygon, Christiansen shared that he personally invested $30,000 to compensate the artists and programmers involved in the project. Since the mod will be provided free-of-charge, he won’t recoup any of his costs. However, he expressed no regrets about the time and money he invested.
According to Christiansen, “No one was playing [Infinite] due to its visuals and character roster.” His aim is to enhance the game’s appearance within his capabilities and budget, making it more appealing so that people will consider purchasing Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite on Steam, downloading our mod, and thereby transforming the game.
Currently, you can grab Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite at a reduced price of $7 on Fanatical, TopMob’s sister site. Earlier this year, Capcom unveiled the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection for PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. This collection is expected to be available on Xbox One at some point in 2025 as well.
