Marvel Studios Reveals the New Fantastic Four Logo Almost Looked Way Different

Creating the official logo for the Fantastic Four’s introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a complex process. Bringing such a beloved and well-known team into the MCU required careful consideration, especially given how eagerly fans anticipated their arrival. As Marvel’s First Family, the Fantastic Four needed a completely new visual identity, including a logo and designs for their costumes and branding.

Marvel Studios shared over a dozen logo concepts that didn’t make the cut for the upcoming 2025 film, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, in the official art book. These logos, along with early character designs, were all part of figuring out how to best introduce the team into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The final logo, for comparison, is a light blue “4” with a single line running through both the number and the circle around it.

Marvel explored different logo designs, even trying sharper, more angled shapes like a “4” with square and diamond outlines. Some versions used several shades of blue, while others featured cuts or notches in the number to make them stand out.

The team’s final logo features a lighter blue color and a circular shape, setting it apart from the other designs which were more square.

The designs also feature a version where the number “4” stands alone, without any shapes around it. There’s a rectangular option with a cut-out on the left side of the “4”, and two more detailed circular logo designs as well.

These initial designs were quite different from the one ultimately chosen, featuring a range of blue colors and various styles for the main number.

Next, we see four more logo options that are circular in shape. Two of these designs feature a cross-like mark within the number “4”. The other two use three lines to create the “4” – one design places the lines within a circle, while the other uses them to form a vertical line.

Although these early designs weren’t as polished as the final version, they used different shades of blue and appeared more cluttered compared to the design fans are familiar with today.

Four logos are split between circular and oval designs. Two of these feature a prominent number “4” with an oval shape extending diagonally around much of it.

These designs are quite different from what the final product became, as they still feature the number “4” inside the circle and use a lighter shade of blue.

Marvel Studios kicked off Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, released in 2025. The film stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn as the iconic team, who find themselves battling Galactus and the Silver Surfer in a 1960s alternate reality to save their world. The Fantastic Four’s Future in the MCU

Nailing the visual style of the Fantastic Four was key, but the real challenge was figuring out their place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After establishing their heroic credentials by defeating Galactus and the Silver Surfer and saving their universe, the team now faces its greatest threat yet: Victor von Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.

The team’s adventures will span multiple universes, as hinted at in the trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, which showed Ben Grimm interacting with people from Wakanda. This follows a scene after the credits of their recent movie, where Sue Storm first encountered Doctor Doom, who examined the young Franklin Richards without his usual mask.

Okay, so it sounds like this team isn’t just important now, but they’re going to be HUGE in the Secret Wars movie too – that one doesn’t even start filming until late 2026! Knowing Doctor Doom, he’ll probably be at the peak of his power by then, so this team will be essential to helping the Avengers and all the other heroes finally take him down. It’s exciting to think about how they’ll fit into that massive battle!
