A recent product leak might have revealed a major plot point for the upcoming Thunderbolts movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film, scheduled for 2025, unites several of Marvel’s well-known antiheroes into a surprising team, which some are calling a new version of the Avengers. The leak also hints at answers to lingering MCU questions, like who purchased the Avengers Tower.
Last year, it was revealed that Valentina Allegra de Fontaine bought Avengers Tower from Tony Stark and changed its name to Watchtower. This became the new base of operations for the New Avengers by the end of the Thunderbolts story arc, and was briefly shown in a scene after the credits of the movie (which was confirmed to be part of the making of Avengers: Doomsday’s).

Recent reports suggested the Thunderbolts series was building towards the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Watchtower. However, a possible leak about upcoming LEGO sets may change that understanding. A post on Reddit from Brickmerge details several LEGO sets believed to be connected to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. Notably, one set is named “Avengers Tower” and is expected to contain 954 pieces.
The name we’re seeing for this LEGO set might just be temporary, and it could be called ‘Watchtower’ when it comes out in October. However, it’s also possible Marvel is bringing back the original name for Avengers Tower after previously planning to change it.

Viewers have observed some changes to Avengers Tower since Tony Stark lived there. Valentina has remodeled the bar and command center, and the famous Avengers logo is now gone. At the end of Thunderbolts, the war room was actively being used by the New Avengers to monitor an approaching spaceship resembling the Fantastic Four’s, indicating that the tower’s new team is now comfortably established.
The upcoming 2026 Avengers Tower LEGO set is generating excitement because it’s expected to show how the tower has changed since the last version was released in 2023. The included minifigures will likely feature characters from the Avengers: Doomsday storyline.
The report also indicates that Avengers Tower will continue to be a key setting in the upcoming Avengers movie, which many expected after the post-credit scene in Thunderbolts.
Is the MCU’s Watchtower Being Rebranded (Again)?

Ever since Hawkeye revealed Avengers Tower had been sold, fans have wondered who bought it. While Thunderbolts appeared to provide an answer, the focus has shifted to what the new owners are calling it now.
LEGO might be going back to calling its building set “Avengers Tower” because that name is much more recognizable to fans. Most people know the building as Avengers Tower, while the recent name change to reflect the Thunderbolts is still new, having only been official for a year.
There’s a logical reason within the Marvel universe why the Avengers’ headquarters is back to being called Avengers Tower. When Valentina Allegra de Fontaine purchased the building and renamed it Watchtower, she hadn’t yet decided to present the Thunderbolts as a new version of the Avengers. So, the name change to Watchtower made sense at the time, especially if her original plan was to use it as a base for O.X.E.
The end of the Thunderbolts movie showed that 14 months passed while the New Avengers were operating. During this time, it’s likely the Watchtower was renamed Avengers Tower to signal to the public that the Thunderbolts are the new version of Earth’s greatest heroes.
