Marvel Studios is building excitement for the Punisher’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a newly revealed logo. Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle in a special presentation titled The Punisher, set to stream later this year. This marks the character’s first standalone project since the Punisher series on Netflix ended over five years ago.
Viewers first saw the Punisher character in last year’s Daredevil: Born Again, where he had a refreshed, tougher appearance as part of the Defenders Saga. Now, Marvel Studios suggests the character will be getting an even more significant makeover for his upcoming standalone presentation, promising a grittier and more intense portrayal of the R-rated hero.
A new logo for The Punisher has been revealed as part of an upcoming Marvel Comics project. Fans noticed the design circulating online (as reported by The Punisher HQ on X), and it’s featured on a special cover for the first issue of The Punisher, written by acclaimed Marvel author Adam Ross.

Although it might seem like this new icon is only for comics, the special cover art is actually connected to the upcoming return of The Punisher on Disney+.

Jon Bernthal’s character appears to be sporting a new skull logo in photos from the upcoming Marvel special. This design is different from previous skull imagery seen in Marvel movies and shows.
The new logo has clear snaggled-toothed tendrils sweeping down its lower half.

The old logo was worn and featured bigger eye sockets in the skull, and it was also more slender in shape compared to the updated version.

This character’s logo is often shown as damaged in live-action appearances, typically only displaying about two-thirds (or even less) of the complete design. This is due to the wear and tear on the costumes used in filming.

A special presentation featuring The Punisher is coming to Disney+ around 2026. This new, mature-themed story picks up after the Daredevil: Born Again series, following Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle. Having escaped Wilson Fisk, Castle now faces a dangerous new enemy: a powerful female crime boss who seems to have ties to his history.
How Punisher Will Level Up in 2026
Fans can expect to see a lot more of Jon Bernthal as the Punisher in the next year. He’ll appear in a special presentation on Disney+, and he’s also confirmed to be part of both the second season of Daredevil: Born Again and the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie.
So, if there were a time to give the character an upgrade, it would be now.
Given how things left off for the Punisher, it’s not surprising he’s getting a fresh start in the upcoming special presentation. The last time we saw him, he was imprisoned by Wilson Fisk while New York City was caught in a conflict between masked heroes and the authorities.
It’s likely Frank Castle won’t stay in prison for long. He’ll probably escape and return to fighting crime as the Punisher.
I’m really encouraged by what I’m hearing about the Punisher’s return. In Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, Frank Castle felt…off. He was reactive, almost like he wanted to avoid conflict, which was a huge departure from the proactive, driven vigilante we’d seen before. But from what I understand, that’s all changing. He’s going to be back to being a hero with a clear mission, and a willingness to meet problems head-on. It’s a welcome shift, and I’m excited to see it play out.
Okay, so things are escalating in New York. Fisk’s gone to war with all the masked vigilantes, and that means Frank—our Punisher—needs to seriously up his game. We’re seeing hints of a transformation, possibly with a new suit and a revamped look. But it’s not just about aesthetics; he’s clearly investing in some serious firepower and transportation. By the time we get to Spider-Man 4, it looks like he’ll be rolling around in what’s essentially a bulletproof, mobile armory. It’s a significant upgrade, and it feels like a clear signal that he’s preparing for a full-blown conflict.
