Marvel Studios‘ new show, Marvel Zombies, surprised viewers by killing off almost a dozen superheroes – something rarely seen on Disney+. The last time so many major Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes died was in the 2018 film Avengers: Infinity War. But those heroes were later resurrected in the next Avengers movie, Endgame.
Most viewers expected Marvel Zombies to be violent, but many were surprised by how many heroic characters died throughout the show’s five episodes. The deaths happened consistently, with some major characters falling in the very first episode and others lasting until the end.
Marvel Studios and Disney consider the show Marvel Zombies a big hit. It attracted more viewers than anticipated, and Marvel executives are now discussing the possibility of making a second season.
All 10 Superhero Human Deaths in Marvel Zombies
Kate Bishop

I was so excited when I heard Hailee Steinfeld was coming back as Kate Bishop! Honestly, a lot of us fans figured she’d be a huge part of the show, popping up in every episode. It was a real shock, then, when her character was killed off right away in the very first episode. It was definitely unexpected!
Kate unexpectedly found herself in the middle of a battle between the Young Avengers – including Ms. Marvel and Ironheart – and the Eternals, featuring Captain Marvel and Ikaris. This marked the first time these two superhero teams clashed. Sadly, Kate was immediately killed when she was struck by a powerful photon beam from Captain Marvel during the fight.
Yelena Belova

Many fans thought Yelena Belova would survive the Marvel Zombies series, but unfortunately, she died in Episode 2, similar to Kate Bishop. Despite her death, Yelena went down as a hero.
Florence Pugh’s character, Yelena, was trapped on the Raft alongside the other human survivors. They were in immediate danger, facing an attack from a zombified Namor and his people, the Talokans, and were on the verge of being overwhelmed.
Yelena bravely sacrificed herself to distract their enemies, allowing the others to escape. The Raft then sank into the ocean, and she was never seen again, leading everyone to believe she had died.
Black Panther

Following the sad death of Chadwick Boseman, Marvel Studios honored his memory in Marvel Zombies by giving his character, T’Challa, a respectful conclusion. Rather than recast the role, they chose not to include any spoken dialogue for T’Challa, ensuring Boseman remained the sole voice of the character.
In a flashback narrated by Peter Parker, it was revealed that T’Challa gave his life to prevent a zombie Thanos from wielding the Infinity Gauntlet and its powerful Infinity Stones.
T’Challa defeated Thanos by sending him crashing into Wakanda’s vibranium core, but T’Challa was pulled in as well. The resulting explosion tragically killed both of them.
Rocket

Rocket Raccoon died in a flashback during the Marvel Zombies storyline, which unfolded on Wakanda and resolved a plot point that had been building for four years. His death happened right before T’Challa finally defeated Thanos.
The team behind Zombies attempted to recreate a famous scene from Infinity War, featuring Thor, Rocket, and Groot’s arrival in Wakanda. However, this time, a zombie version of Thanos was prepared and used the Power Stone to defeat Rocket.
Sadly, Rocket didn’t stand a chance against the powerful Infinity Stone. Thanos used it on him, and Rocket instantly turned to dust – leaving only his skeleton behind to show he was really gone.
Groot

Groot and Rocket both perished simultaneously, succumbing to the overwhelming power of the Power Stone, which proved to be an insurmountable force.
Blade Knight

Many Marvel fans were thrilled to see Blade appear in Marvel Zombies, even though Mahershala Ali didn’t voice the character. The version of Blade shown, known as Blade Knight (because he was an avatar of Khonshu, similar to Moon Knight), proved to be a standout and delivered several memorable scenes.
Blade survived until the very last episode, but he died fighting to protect Earth. In a dramatic showdown with a zombie version of Thor, he was defeated by a blast of energy from the Bifrost.
Rintrah

The final episode of Marvel Zombies featured a lot of character deaths, and unfortunately, Rintrah was among those who didn’t survive.
Despite his efforts to protect the heroes and guide the surviving group, Rintrah was overwhelmed and killed by the attacking undead Asgardians.
Sara Wolfe

Sara Wolfe fought bravely in the last battle of Marvel Zombies, but tragically, she was killed when Thor used the Bifrost.
London Master

London Master met the same end as Sara Wolfe. Similar to how Rocket and Groot perished together due to Thanos and the Power Stone, London Master died with Sara when they were both struck by the Bifrost beam wielded by a zombified Thor.
Valkyrie

Valkyrie was one of the few characters to survive until the end of Marvel Zombies, but ultimately she couldn’t escape her fate.
Valkyrie died after being stabbed in the stomach by an undead version of Okoye.
