Marvel accidentally revealed a major plot point from One World Under Doom #9 while announcing a new Sorcerer Supreme comic book series. The press release detailing the new series’ creators and cover art confirmed that Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff, will become the next Sorcerer Supreme.
The upcoming comic series will focus on Wanda defending her position as the Sorcerer Supreme against several opponents. Key challengers include the Vishanti, who support Agatha Harkness as the new Sorcerer Supreme, and Madelyne Pryor, the former Goblin Queen who now rules Limbo. The first issue is planned to be released on December 31, 2025.
It’s understandable that Marvel wants to build excitement for their new series and showcase Scarlet Witch’s evolving story. She’s very popular thanks to the Marvel movies, and fans were upset with how her character was portrayed in the recent Doctor Strange film. They’d likely be thrilled to see Wanda treated with the respect they feel she deserves. At the same time, it’s also easy to see why comic book fans are frustrated about having major plot points for Marvel’s biggest event of the year revealed ahead of time.
