Marvel Snap Returns: What This New Era Means for Players After TikTok Ban!

2 days following the temporary shutdown due to the U.S.’s short-term TikTok ban, Marvel Snap has resumed operations online in the United States. The team behind the Trading Card Game (TCG), Second Dinner, is currently searching for a new publisher as they embark on what they refer to as a “new era” for the game.

After several months of anticipation, action was finally taken on January 19 when TikTok was temporarily prohibited in the United States. This move occurred due to ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, failing to sell a majority of its shares to American owners. It is important to note that ByteDance owns more than just the video-sharing platform.

Besides being a significant player in Chinese tech, this company is also the proprietor of Nuverse, the publisher of Marvel Snap, and Second Dinner, its development studio. When TikTok was banned, it resulted in the unexpected shutdown of the highly popular card battler game as well, leaving both the community and the developers themselves taken aback.

Initially, Second Dinner stated that they weren’t expecting this downtime, which was unplanned. However, they emphasized that Marvel Snap remains in development. Nevertheless, the enthusiasts are uncertain about when the service will resume operation again.

At last, Marvel Snap is back online for American gamers! Two days following its initial takedown, Second Dinner made the announcement via a post on their social media platform, X (previously known as Twitter).

Marvel Snap finally lets US players snap some more

The Marvel Snap game has been reactivated in the United States, as developers have announced, also providing a vision for the game’s development within this region going forward.

To prevent such occurrences from happening in the future, we’re taking steps to provide more internal services and collaborate with a fresh publishing partner. This marks the beginning of a new chapter for Marvel Comics.

As a gamer, I’m excited that the game I’ve been enjoying is now playable again for those who already have it installed. However, the developers have warned us that it might take some time before the app reappears in different app stores. So, unfortunately, newcomers like me can’t join the fun just yet as services are still being restored.

As I type this, it’s important to note that in-app purchases are currently not accessible in the United States. This means you’ll need to keep accumulating Gold through regular gameplay, or alternatively, you can visit our Web Shop right here.

Marvel Snap has resumed operations in the U.S., but we’re taking steps to prevent future outages by managing more services ourselves and collaborating with a different publishing partner. This marks the beginning of a fresh chapter for Marvel Snap. We understand that this news might spark even more questions…
