Marvel Snap Dev To Issue Major Compensation This Week To US, Global Players Following Ban

The potential ban on TikTok in the U.S. might not have come as a surprise, given the strong reaction from American users over the service’s suspension. Yet, what followed was an unexpected outcome: numerous U.S. gamers found themselves locked out as a result of bans imposed on other ByteDance-owned platforms, such as Marvel Snap, which were also discontinued due to Nuverse, its publisher, being owned by ByteDance.

The programmer successfully reinstated the gaming services within the U.S., as the game has been made available again on digital marketplaces. To prevent such occurrences in the future, they’re actively seeking a new distributor. Moreover, they’ve indicated that rewards are being prepared for all gamers, and they revealed their compensation strategy over the weekend.

On January 24th, 2025, Second Dinner shared details about their compensation plans for Marvel Snap players on both their Twitter account and Discord server. The message conveyed that they are not just dedicated to making amends for any inconvenience caused, but also wanted to offer special treats to both returning and new players as a celebration.

The developer clearly outlined the benefits that US and international players will receive, including a schedule for when these rewards would be distributed this week. To clarify, the rewards for US players are intended to compensate for any missed time, while international or global players will get extra perks like Alliance rewards and an added bonus as a token of appreciation for their loyalty.

In addition, the developer has set up a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section that clearly explains which players are eligible for the specified rewards. They’ve mentioned that all existing players residing in the United States will get the US Downtime Package, regardless of whether their accounts were created before or after 20th January 2025, as long as they show some activity within the last 30 days prior to the downtime. For players outside the U.S., also those who registered before 20th January 2025 and whose accounts aren’t covered under the US-based players, they will receive the Global Gratitude Package instead.

In summary, the developer stated that using a VPN while playing the game during its downtime won’t impact the eligibility of US players or those outside the US who connected through a VPN to access the US Downtime Package.
