Marvel Studios is considering making another Deadpool movie quickly, potentially even before starting work on the planned X-Men reboot. According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, Deadpool 4 could be the next film Marvel makes after they finish shooting ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ which would delay the X-Men movie.

Marvel Studios has three movies scheduled for release in 2028: May 5th, July 28th, and December 15th. While many expected the new X-Men movie to come out on May 5th, recent reports suggest Deadpool 4 will actually begin filming first. This could mean the 2028 lineup will include Deadpool 4, the X-Men reboot, and Black Panther 3.

Ryan Reynolds wants to continue playing Deadpool in future Marvel movies. He’s reportedly working on a new X-Force project that could happen after the upcoming Secret Wars film. The recent Deadpool & Wolverine movie was a huge success, earning $1.4 billion worldwide.

Ryan Reynolds has discussed where he sees Deadpool fitting into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He believes Deadpool thrives when interacting with teams like the X-Men and Avengers, but always as an outsider. Reynolds explained (according to The Hollywood Reporter) that Deadpool’s biggest desire is to be accepted and valued, but his character is fundamentally unable to achieve that.

I found it really interesting what Reynolds said about Deadpool’s future in the MCU. He explained that Deadpool uses humor to hide how insecure he is, and that only works as long as he needs to hide those feelings. Basically, he thinks if Deadpool ever actually joins the Avengers or X-Men, that’ll be the culmination of his story – the end of his personal journey. It makes me think about how much growth he still has ahead of him!

A new X-Men movie is still in the early stages of production, with Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo currently writing the script. The next Avengers film, “Doomsday,” is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, followed by “Secret Wars” on December 17, 2027.
