In an upcoming Season 1 update for Marvel Rivals, the least popular character is expected to get a significant power boost, potentially elevating her to the upper echelons of gameplay, or in other words, making her a top-tier choice in the game’s metagame.
Among the numerous famous characters available, and with even more being introduced in Season 1, it’s not surprising that some excel more than others in Marvel Rivals. Since its launch in December, figures like Hela, Hawkeye, and Jeff the Land Shark have been ruling battles, while many others have barely seen any action.
The first significant upgrade aims to rectify the current imbalance by implementing various power-ups (buffs) and diminishments (nerfs) for a more balanced roster, thereby providing underutilized characters with a better opportunity to compete. However, it seems that streamers who received early access to the new build have discovered that Storm is in line for a substantial enhancement moving forward.
In contrast to Storm’s widespread acclaim among fans and her association with the X-Men, she has been noticeably weaker in Marvel Rivals so far, which has made it tough for her to measure up against top-tier players. The developers have acknowledged that they plan to adjust her abilities in Season 1, and content creator ‘Marvel Rivals Merchant’ had a sneak peek at the revamped version of Storm prior to the update launching on January 10.
In the video, he demonstrated the substantial upgrade Storm has received by contrasting her previous and current abilities. One of the primary alterations is an enhancement to the piercing damage she inflicts on enemies aligned in a row, which has been greatly amplified to enable her to handle multiple targets simultaneously.
The greatest enhancement, nonetheless, pertains to her ability to instantly amplify her self-inflicted damage. Storm possesses capabilities that increase not only her own damage output but also the damage and mobility of her teammates through Weather Control, a feature that operates in a manner reminiscent to Lucio from Overwatch.
In the first season, the increase was relatively small and decreased the number of hits required to defeat an enemy by just one, making it not overly essential. However, in Season 1, the damage boost stands out significantly more, as evidenced by the YouTuber’s video showcasing rapid destruction of targets in the training area.
Increase the intensity further by using Goddess Boost simultaneously, amplifying Storm’s lightning strikes for even greater damage. Combining these skills makes Ororo Munroe an unstoppable force.
He clarified that if you modify the weather initially and then apply the extra damage amplifier, she becomes capable of inflicting a tremendous amount of damage currently. Frankly, it’s quite alarming how much destruction she’s now capable of.
Let’s observe if these modifications secure Storm a place among the key characters in Marvel Rivals: Meta Edition. However, since Mister Fantastic is now part of the Duelists roster, the competition will surely be fierce.
