Marvel Rivals Supports are sick of getting abused by “whining” teammates

As a long-time gamer with countless hours spent on various hero shooters, I find myself deeply immersed in the Marvel Rivals universe, yet frustrated by the ongoing squabble between support players and DPS users. Having dabbled in both roles, I can certainly empathize with both sides.

In simpler terms, the supporters in Marvel Rivals find it frustrating that they have to frequently heal the entire team, while damage-per-second (DPS) users seem to be frequently complaining about this issue.

Despite its recent release, Marvel Rivals has swept through the gaming world with enthusiasm, primarily due to its vast collection of Marvel characters and exhilarating gameplay dynamics. The game is rapidly gathering an enormous player base.

Although it has received significant acclaim from both critics and players, the free-to-play shooting game does have its flaws. A major point of discussion surrounding the new title is the absence of role-locking feature.

As an avid gaming enthusiast, I appreciate the balance in Overwatch 2’s team composition, ensuring each side has diverse character types. However, when it comes to Marvel Rivals, it’s refreshing to see NetEase Games maintaining their stance against a similar system. They seem determined to let players have full control over their hero selections, which I admire as it fosters a sense of ownership and personal gameplay style.

As a result, players are becoming more and more irritated due to fewer players choosing to assist heroes, and those who do often share that they’re regularly harassed and pressured by their DPS teammates to heal them online.

Marvel Rivals support players slam teammates for “blaming” losses on them

As a gamer, I recently posted on Reddit, “Dude, listen, you’re not carrying the whole team here. Maybe it’s time to mix things up and try switching your role from DPS to tank or support?

Afterward, they mentioned that they were the ones providing support when this individual began complaining about healing issues.

PSA: Stop b*tching about healing if you only have one support on your team.

This article subsequently triggered a multitude of responses, several of which contained sympathetic teammates recounting their own unfavorable encounters with Damage Per Second (DPS) players who criticized them for allegedly underperforming in healing even though they consistently surpassed the 10,000 healing mark.

In another Reddit post, a player shared an experience where despite possessing numerous healing abilities following a single game round, their teammates continued to accuse them of underperforming.

Another Reddit user commented that it’s often the Defense Primary Squad member who rushes into a four-versus-one situation and then accuses the healers of being inadequate.

A common complaint among support players revolves around DPS players seemingly going out of their way to utilize health packs or healing methods themselves, which often leads them to blame their fellow team members instead.

Another Reddit user commented, “It’s astonishing how many duelists neglect health packs. Incredibly, they would leave them untouched even when they were right beside them. Instead, they’d wait for me to revive them, which took my focus away from the frontline that required immediate healing.

The same problems are being shared on other social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter).

As someone who’s clocked over 300 hours dealing damage, I bristle at the thought of being told that ‘support is easy,’ especially when I find myself in a pickle, not receiving the healing I need,” expressed one X gamer.

“What is support in Marvel Rivals like?” A 9-to-5 but nobody else wants to play the role in comp 😀

Others compared playing support in the game to “a traditional workday job, but it seems few are eager to take on this specific role in competitive play.

As this issue continues to grow among our community, developers may consider making adjustments over the next few months to address and mitigate this persistent challenge.

It’s unclear at this point whether we’ll implement rewards for choosing a role or institute a role lock system, but one thing is certain.
