As a long-time gamer and dedicated Marvel Rivals fan, I’ve seen my fair share of ups and downs in the gaming world. The initial days of Rivals were nothing short of magical, reminding me of the good old Overwatch days. However, lately, it seems like we’re back to battling not just villains, but cheaters as well.
In the realm of multiplayer games, including Marvel Rivals, it’s unfortunate to note that cheating is a common issue. Prominent streamers have found themselves in situations where they encounter players who employ unethical practices such as wall-hacking and aimbotting.
For many gamers, the initial stages of Rivals were a source of immense pleasure. The game quickly attracted over half a million players on Steam, offered beloved Marvel characters to play (or dislike, depending on who you talk to), and recaptured the excitement that the original Overwatch had for numerous people.
Ever since its launch, this game’s momentum has been nothing short of incredible, keeping a large number of us players hooked. But as more of us climb up the ranks, it’s increasingly evident that there seems to be a cheating issue in Rivals. I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed, as it’s dampening the overall gaming experience for many of us dedicated fans.
Notable streamers such as Eskay, bogur, and super have encountered a surge of cheaters disrupting their gameplay simultaneously. Shortly following the game’s launch, Marvel Rivals has experienced a significant influx of cheaters targeting some of its most prominent content creators.
Marvel Rivals streamers targeted by blatant hackers
Given that many prominent streamers among their competitors mainly hail from Overwatch, it’s not unexpected that they swiftly reached the highest tiers of the game. Individuals who dedicate significant portions of their day to climbing the ranked ladder are naturally destined to climb up in rank over time.
For those with limited time, there’s a single strategy: simply use shortcuts! Sounds simple, doesn’t it? It certainly won’t spoil the game for others. Right from the start, opponents have been working hard to thwart shortcut users by implementing a comprehensive reporting system. And it has indeed led to some shortcut users getting penalized.
However, there’s an issue when unscrupulous players manage to reach or approach the top echelons of the game and ambush live streamers.
In Marvel Rivals, some players are using aimbots, which gives them an unfair advantage. On top of that, other players are teaming up with these aimbotters, reaping the benefits of their victories, and then hiding their profiles by making them private in an attempt to conceal their unethical actions.

Experienced gamers frequently identify cheaters not just by observing if a player’s cursor remains fixed on opponents even through walls in spectator mode, but also by assessing whether their shooting skills align with their apparent understanding of the game. This practice has grown increasingly prevalent.
On several occasions, Super found himself facing the same dishonest player, eventually deciding to step into a common area to engage him in conversation. Unfortunately, before they could speak, this same player hurled a racial epithet and began communicating through his Twitch chat instead.
Bogur responded to Eskay’s post concerning cheaters, sharing that he too encounters this issue in European gaming servers. It’s not merely a handful of individuals causing trouble in ranked games, but the attention given to streamers being targeted has definitely brought the problem into sharper focus.
60% of the games I played today appeared to be manipulated, making it an unpleasant experience. If the situation isn’t addressed promptly, the game might become unenjoyable within roughly a month.

There are different degrees of deceit among cheaters. While some players might convincingly appear extremely skilled to an ordinary observer due to their gameplay, others seem to be aiming directly at a blank wall, yet consistently hitting their targets.
In an expert-level match, this player, who was accused of cheating with an aimbot and being invincible, showed off these suspicious abilities. Yet, despite their supposed advantages, they surprisingly ended up losing. 😜

Other creators of video games have resorted to filing lawsuits against those who create and distribute cheats, such as Activision Blizzard, who brought forward a $3 million lawsuit in 2023 against a vendor of cheating software. Regrettably, even after more than a year, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 continues to struggle with cheaters.
